Ok well i have been pondering on buying the new meagans for some time now and i finally decided to buy them. My magnaflow muffler just recetly fell off due to teh pipe rusting so i decided to just buy the headers and a catback all at once. Now im not very imformed on exauhst so im wondering what exactly will i need if i buy the meagans... and than what would i buy for the rest of the exaust? Thanks any help will be great
 
for the headers, you will need a breather filter for the EGR pipe, and couple of extra bolts for the exhaust to hook all up together (you may not need them, b/c my box was royaly beaten to death and a couple of the bolts fell out) and also a can or two of PB Blaster. Then if you want life to be easy, buy a 14mm adjustable-angle rachet wrench. It will make the stock manifold bolts come off with less irritation.
 
The exhaust is pretty much removing bolts and plop. The exhaust falls down, but you said that you had a magnaflow muffler, which means that the exhaust shop removed some the factory things holding the old muffler or welded in some support rods for the new muffler, this will result in being a pain in the butt.
 
The Megan's are bolt up. They replace the cat and a cat-back system connects to the Megan headers. There will be no fitment issues. The Megan headers bolted up to my factory system without any modifications. I recommend doing the cat-back first, b/c my Megan headers were a tight fit and I had to use a C-clamp to hold the headers to the exhaust so I could tighten the bolts on, but it was still no big deal. It is definately a DIY project, it will just take a saturday to do it.
 
Thanks for all the info guys.. um i have a magnaflow aftermarket muffler is there anyway i could just buy the rest of the pipes for that catback or no?
Ill tell you again man, search. Theres a million threads about exhausts. Since you probably wont listen, you can either buy any cat-back for the 00-05 Eclipse and it should fit especially if its a brand name vs ebay. Or yes you can take your muffler to an exhaust shop and have them crush bend the piping to fit which will eventually rust.

I have been searching... But thanks for the info.. Yeh i dont want any rust. So if i wanted to get the borla catback and meagan headers would i need nething else... I saw some people saying you need a breather filter or hfc
 
you dont NEED a hfc or breather for the egr. If you use the plug that megan gives you for the egr you will throw codes right off the bat. It is HIGHLY recommended that you just cut the egr and put a breather on it, and this isn't hard. A hfc and resonator are personal preference really if you want to tone down the sound and get rid of some rasp.
 
Yes he needs a high flow cat, and he should find a way to integrate the egr back in, you f-ing ricer boi *******. EGR systems are better for your engine than without and don't operate under WOT so it doesn't bother your hp and it's better for your piston rings. Plus he is going to need a Cat in order to stay legal. so STFU you dumb ricer boi's :bigthumb:

WTF are you talking about. I have installed the megan headers and you DON'T need a HFC, he didnt say anything about staying legal. You can't integrate the egr back into the headers without doing some crazy ass shit to make a bung on the rear manifold, and even then I still haven't heard of someone doing this. Most everyone puts a breather on it. You should research a little before you fucking say something.
 
you should quit being a ricer boi. not having a catalytic converter is retarded, and it shouldn't be to hard to integrate the egr back in just takes a person with simple welding skills. I don't need to search i know wtf i'm talking about unlike you. Plus if he takes his car to a shop and they get busted working on a vehicle without a cat (even in florida with no emissions) they can get tagged with a 10k dollar fine.
