jello, ive notice that sometimes my a/c compressor stays off for too long during its cycle. so im thinking of replacing the expansion valve, you guys think im doing the right thing? feels like its sticking.
My mechanic just did that the other day. unless the ass hole forgot to do something.Compressor cycling is indicative of low refrigerant. Add a can of refrigerant to it first instead of opening up the system and causing a real headache having to properly evacuate and recharge the whole system.
its been like this since i bought the car. and the mechanic was changing the condensor.Well if you open the system to replace the expansion valve then you got to do the whole evacuate and recharge thing. Cheaper to just by a can and fill it up. Watch the compressor while you're doing it and if it is indeed low, the compressor will come on and stay on. If not, then you got something else going on. Could be a clogged condensor, evaporator or expansion valve. When did it start doing this and what was your "mechanic" working on that he had to add refrigerant?
Or it can make all better....been there done that. Learn how to do shit on your own saves you tons of money.get the a/c serviced. That canned refrigerant can screw up your system
