jello, ive notice that sometimes my a/c compressor stays off for too long during its cycle. so im thinking of replacing the expansion valve, you guys think im doing the right thing? feels like its sticking.

Well if you open the system to replace the expansion valve then you got to do the whole evacuate and recharge thing. Cheaper to just by a can and fill it up. Watch the compressor while you're doing it and if it is indeed low, the compressor will come on and stay on. If not, then you got something else going on. Could be a clogged condensor, evaporator or expansion valve. When did it start doing this and what was your "mechanic" working on that he had to add refrigerant?
