hello i have a mitsubishi eclipse spyder gt 3.0 v6 and it had some engine problems (+high taxes in my country) so the car was left in a yard for a long time. now i am thinking of fix the car and it needs a lot of work but the main issue is the tax. i am thinking of swap the engine with lower cc so i can pay less and not fix the engine because it had grinded twice. what engines could fit in my car from other models. thank you.

Typically people swap bigger engines, there's a 2.4l but it will require quite a bit of fabrication in order to make it work. Your best option might just be buying the 4cyl instead of paying taxes on the 3.0l or trying to work on swapping in a smaller engine.

You'd pay more swapping an engine that you would in taxes. The 2.5L V6 engine is a direct swap to the 3.0L V6 but the engine computer will require an expensive retune (which requires a wideband o2 sensor) by someone knowledgeable. Sorry it isn't worth the effort in your situation. Find a 2.4L I4 Eclipse (the GS or RS models) for less taxes.
