as you guys can see my second run we were too damn close and actually i was faster...i still think that if i would've the same R/T as in my first run in my second run i would've beat the ss cobalt... the good thing that everyone was saying that i won that race cause me being almonst 50hp less and just lost for .19 but the true was that i lost :( not for much though) im happy with it

for what i seen in the other forums this time is great for a RS Stock..if im wrong feel free to comment...
the ss cobalt was a friend of mine.but i know i could beat him cause i started to spin tire a lil too much at the star until i realize i had to stop.and go for it...maybe if i wouldnt spin tire that much i would had beaten him :) it was wonderful...

can you tell me its those numbers are good for a 5speed RS STOCK...it was really hot the weather and a lil humid...

(after that i beat a 2003 mazda miata for about 1 car)

what do i have to work on??? and any mods that canhelp me get to mid or low 15"s

congrats. Your reaction time is pretty bad, you need to start going when the third light is lit. You either need drag radials or slicks to better your 60 foot time of 2.4, you can get it down to 2.0 or so. I'm so jealous though, your elevation is like 100 feet above sea level, here in SLC,Utah it's 5,000 feet above sea level lol.

intake, headers, exhaust the main ones as of right now but i would suggest cams, puleys and lighter wheel will help the smallest bit but your rs ones should be pretty light as of right now and you know the 4 door ss isnt supercharged right? not saying that you did but ya

so i dont have to worry that much about the R/T...yeah i have to work on my 60' but hey i think for a stock rs my time was pretty good... about the headers and the exhaust yeah i will put them eventually but for now i think the main thing is the intake..AEM intake to be thats the one that gives more hp to a 4cl isnt it...but i seen i alot with injen too so :S...and about the other cars ..i dont care that much i know i cant run vs supercharger or turbo cars so i just race with cars with cars that have a lil mre power that mine..is fun beating them.. its more fun...

ohhhh btw a friend of mine he has a 2002 GT and he went to the track and he's best time was 15.6 stock....thats is way in a way im kinda happy that my car did this time (16.3) i knnow if i work on my 60' i will be gettin down to high 15' probably 15.8 o .9 STOCK..plus the the intake and cat back :) i just want to get to low 15' now :)

My 1/4 time sucked, 15.3@91, that was at 6 psi on a 14b. The car wasn't tuned either, I was even running the stock 3g map. I know a 15.3 sounds like shit but at 5,000 feet above sea level a stock gs runs 18-18.5 @79-82 mph so it was a big improvement over stock. Once I get my motor back I'm going to get this thing tuned and turn the psi up to 20. Hopefully with my new setup I'll be able to get 13.xx@100 or so. I wasn't using my methanol injection either, hopefully that helps with detonation and making more power.

#22 ·
blah. With light mods on a GTS, I'm still getting occasional wheel hop with the motor mount inserts. Guess i'm just going to have to spring for the ingalls etd.

For a stock car you don't want too low of tire pressure, 20-25 psi is fine for the fronts, put the highest/safest psi possible in the rear tires. When you launch the weight transfers to the back of the car and that makes you lose traction, some people actually stiffen or even clamp their rear springs so that the weight stays up front and the suspension doesn't compress as much in the back. As for rpm, I'd launch at 3800-4000k, anything less and you'll bog or launch like a grandma. With the NHRA correction factor for altitude I would run a 14.2@98mph at sea level lol. As soon as I get all my stuff tuned and dialed in I'm going to Vegas where the elevation is a lot lower than salt lake city, then I can say I run 12s lol.

lol hahaha well here in orlando we are about 125 above sea level thats pretty decent...ill be going to the track on wednesday to see my improvment...for me if i do 15.8 15.9 stock it will be NICE..i like...:) i got 16.3 last time cause it was my first time going to the track so i didnt know that much plus when i launch i spin tire like CRAZY!!! ill say 1 to 2 seconds just spining tire during my launch..that preatty damn bad...right...ill be recording my race hopefully and post it in here

btw...im not saying my car is the best but lately is running like crazy!!! and that makes me happy :) hopefully on the track runs like is running right now....track day 89° F | 71° F....race time between 6pm to 10pm> 83° F 68°F humidity 64%..not that good

yeah be careful...anywayz the days has come...today its track day...hopefully i be getting high 15 in my stock rs 5speed...i will follow you guys tips..(25 psi on front tire and max 45 on back right....2500>3000rpm on my launch...took out some weight...low gas...no air filter...and thats about it right...) if you guys can give me any last time tips i would appreciated...hopefully all be getting at least 15.8 15.9...kinda hot today...and a lil bit humid as well, im just going to have fun right guys...hopefully ill be back with great news and a video...remember any tips?? be getting out the house at 4:45..

well guys..today like you know i went to the track....i was hoping to get HIGH 15's but unfortuanely didnt...it was hot and humid plus i was just launching with 2000rpm all night and i now i believe that doesnt work very well..or maybe idk how to do it very well...for me its better launching at 4000 and spin the tire a lil bit instead of launching at 1500/2000 and not going fast...my best time was 16.2..i improve .1 since last time and that was launching with 3500rpms ..resume> as soon as i got there i race a 2003 mazda miata..we did it probably 4 times in which i won 2...the other two i lost cause of the horrible launching(1500/2000Rpms)..then a truck..i believe it was a toyota but stock as well and and won by 2 seconds...then my friend with his GT Sporty 2002 convertible...we run over 7 times and won 6 of them..yeah my car is an RS Stock 5speed 02'..the only one i lost i miss 2 gear and almost kill my car...but lost just for .2 we did this last week but nobody here believed me that i did it...so now i have proof...slips and VIDEO!!!! over 6 times..and want more proof?? he is a member as well...he ran tiptonic and "D" i thinks thats how its spell but you know what i mean...welll guys next week ill be going for my last time stock and just launch my car like i want to and see what my time...after that..Aem intake and catback

yeah...i know im just trying to do everything stock for now you know...about the videos we recorded 2 because i lost my camera so we had to do it with a cell phone(Good quality dont worry) my friend did it so i just have to wait till he send it to me..:) btw the gt owner kept saying that my car wasnt stock cause it was to quick...Well ...Rs NeVeR LoOsEs lol..btw it is stock like i said...and yes i did took some weight..front seat spare tire mats radio antenna tools and thats it,and btw 1 hour before the track i got a flat tire thanfully it wasnt that much of a problem :)

well i didnt know that..thank you...next week ill be running for my last time stock, im going to buy the cold air intake from aem and another stuffs as well(not performance stuffs) but now im jsut so confused cause they said just the intake doesnt do much "you dont feel the difference" well i dont know for sure about that so im thinking about saving money and buying the intake and catback at the same time..but first ill be getting lambo just for show or maybe the cat back and intake..ahhhh!!! idk...well can you tell me if i buy just the intake will it make any difference on the track???:)

#40 ·
The first thing I did to my car was install an AEM short-ram intake. You can definitely tell a difference in performance and sound of the engine. The stock airbox is really restrictive and has a lot of chambers to quite down the engine noises. If I were you I'd get the intake asap and then get a race header and then the exhaust. With those mods you'll better your 1/4 mile time and improve your gas mileage (not if your racing though lol). After you do all that get a better clutch and then get the polyurethane motor mounts from horsepowerfreaks.com.

damn...what the difference about a short-ram intake and a clod air intake???which one is better??? header??i heard that they actually make the 4cl to lose some power...cat back oh yeah ill be having that in a month or less..and motor mounts for the wheel hop am i right...well do they do any oter good?? and yup i have a better clutch...new clutch i should say

cold air intake is longer and puts the filter closer to the ground (bad if you drive in the rain a lot), A header will not make you lose power at all, too large of an exhaust will because a n/a car needs backpressure to make hp. Ya, the motor mounts not only eliminate wheel hop but make it so that you can put all the power you are making to the the ground and it saves your transmission as well.

Just so you're aware, this is a common misconception. A car doesn't need backpressure at all. Backpressure is always bad. What a car does need, especially on the exhaust side, is velocity. Good exhaust velocity helps in scavanging out of the cylinder head, which helps the torque output. 1.5" header primaries into 2.5" exhaust = good velocity. 2" header primaries into a 3.5" exhaust = lower velocity.

I don't know where the whole "backpressure is good" came from, but I'm guessing it was from someone who didn't know much about engines, threw a 5" catback on his civic and wondered why he got slower.

wow +1 rep..nice explanation...well then if i am going to put the catback(greddy evo I or II) i have to put the intake first so it can have more pressure right...well i dont drive in the rain actually its florida so you never know when its going to rain or not...but then the short ram intake and the colda ir intake have the same power??? or not??? about the headre hmmm ill thnk about it it...motor mount yeah im interested...how much are they??? i took my passanger seat out for the track day but now getting tenzo rally seats(both) are they lighter or do i have to keep pullling the passenger seat out???
