Wheel Decision

I've changed the contents of my original post to help me better gauge the opinions of Club3G on what wheels to get. The notion of whether to get 18's or 19's is still lingering, but let it linger. The only way I can decide is if I get your opinions. So I am asking you to pick between these 3 wheels. Here is some info about my car so you can picture these wheels with what I have. Black Grillcraft, Black on Black DEPO's, Blacked out Front and Rear Corners, Blacked out 3rd Brake Light, Black TYC Tails, all on a Silver 3G. I am looking to get a 2 inch Intrax drop before I put my chosen set of wheels on as well. Also, performance does not matter to me with this car, I'm just trying to make it look good, that is why I am actually considering 19's. Let the war of the wheels begin!

18" x 7.5" Motegi DP6 Gunmetal
Offset: +45mm
Weight: 22.5 lbs/wheel

18" X 7.5" Tenzo Mean 6 Gloss Black
Offset: Unknown
Weight: Unknown

19" X 8.5" XIX X05 Gloss Black
Offset: +40mm
Weight: 30lbs/wheel

I like all 3 of these wheels, but I want your opinion on what would look the best on my car. Thanks to everyone for their help so far.

19's are the new 18's.. and 18's are the new 17's.. and 17's? well theyre just a thing of the past. even performance cars these days come with 20's.

that said, if/when i get new wheels for my car.. they will be 19's.

IMO, 18's are just right for the street. Remember, that with 19's you are going to have to run some very low profile tires, and wont have as much sidewall protection as you would with 18's.

For those particular wheels; I honestly can barely tell the difference. I've seen those on a member's car in 18's when he still had them. They looked good.

Ive seen them on all kinds of cars. I personally think they are way over played but if you like them go for it. You'll have to consider ehat GSKNIGHT said though and look at the roads around where you live, are they good enough for 35 series tires? Cause thats what youll be running with 19's. If you do go with 19's, get a ~38mm offset in a 7.5" wide wheel with 235 wide tires. Thay will fit and give you max protection for the wheel.

Yeah I know a ton of cars have them, but I can't find any other wheel I like. If Motegi sold their DP6 in Gloss Black I would jump on them, but the darkest they have is Gunmetal and I really want black. Also, I've found a ton of black wheels with polished lip that I like, but they all have the chrome/polished buttons on the lip and I do not like that at all. Like Mark's, clean, but not what I'm looking for.

Imo if your not going to put a body kit on stick with 18's but if you do get a body kit 19's do look pretty good on them. You will definetly feel the bumps though with 19's, unless you live in an area that is pretty smooth.
Yeah I'm not sure, I keep changing my mind. The 18's look good in some pics, but small in other pics. I would just hate to get 18's and have them be too small for my tastes and wishing I had gotten 19's. Here is another pic of them in 18 inch, they look too small for me in this pic.

If you want to et 18's and like the 19's look don't get wheels with huge sidewall lips and try getting the flattest spokes possible and less spokes since they will look smaller. Also the color makes a wheel look smaller.
I had 17" ADR's that looked like 16" cause of the lip.

I agree on the 18's with Less of a lip. They will look bigger. However..... its ALOT of wheels out now that look alot better than the ones your refuring to. I think you should keep looking and not settle just yet on those. IMO those look cheap.

I agree with Brandy, those wheels are cheap and they are on every riced out car in america. They are the new motegi mr-7's. But i mean if that is what you want, then who are we to say what we think. I personally, would go with a different wheel and with 18s if you are concerned at all about ride comfort. I just recently got some new wheels and they are 18's and graphite grey/gun metal and they look plenty big to me.

If your driving it on the street, stick with 18''s ...they'll look just fine when you put suspension on the car (and you can run higher profile tires like others were saying).
I have 18'' OZ Superleggera's on my car and they look great, but I badly need to upgrade my suspension to get the wheels more into the wheel wells (tighter look).

Bumping this because someone told me that 19's will add to the wear and tear of my suspension/braking components, because they weigh so much. Any truth in that?
Well I dont know if it will add wear and tear but it will defenitley hamper your acceleration. If I were you I would get some 18's. But thats just me. 18's are the best overall for combined looks and peformance. If your hardcore pefromance get 17's. If your hardcore looks get 19's. If you like a balance get 18's! Heres a pic of my car with sportlines and 18 inch rims on 225/40 series tires!:)

Try 20s. 19 inch tires are a bitch to get a hold of sometimes if you ever get a flat and need to get off of that crappy spare tire. And I'm out in Katy quite a bit soo I know for the most part that you wont have to worry too much about road hazards such as bumps and pot holes. But in Houston there are areas where I have to slow do to a crawl to keep from damaging my wheels or tires.

And no they wont really do much harm to your suspension. I have had my 20s for the last year and its fine. I just finish doing my test outing with these 22s I have and even the few days that that I had those on I had no real problems other than not being able to turn like I would like but I'm going to try these other ones that the guy at the shop suggested. Soo if you say you are all show I could point you in the direction of someone who would be glad to try and get any size and type of wheel you want.

Jesus...you had 22s on your Eclipse? How the hell did you even FIT that in the wheel well?

For that matter I think 20s are awfully big but they will fit in there. Personally I think 18s look ideal on the 3G but I myself have 17s, for two reasons - I had brand new tires and two bent stock 17s, and didn't want to pay for new tires, and probably the bigger reason, I wanted to keep more sidewall to protect the wheels on our crappy Ohio roads. 18s probably would be fine too but I don't mind the look of the 17s.

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I'd just use my old one. I'm almost 100% on 19's, now of course comes the wheels decisions. I thought originally I wanted a 5 or 6 spoke, but I have seen some nice multi spokes. What do you guys think about these in 19 inch?

20's are too big for an eclipse unless you have a widebody kit of some sort and even then there still overkilll. 19's look good and if your all about show then I would go with them. Any bigger and it just looks gaudy!
