Ok, we don't really have the same tastes but my buddy is looking at getting one of these 3. He wants a small, nippy convertible for around $25K.

He showed me them online last night and they all look pretty cool. I guess I'd go for either the Crossfire or Solstice. If you won a competition and they offered you one of these for free, which would you take?

The Sky looks pretty tight but it's a 2007 isn't it? So he'd have to wait another year? He wants to get one PDQ to trade out of the Camry he is in now.
$20K is a lot to spend on something when you figure you'll probably regret the purchase a year later.

I like the Solstice over the Sky, myself. The new Miata looks like crap.
He asked about the '05 which is still the current-gen platform. The new Miata comes out as an '06... I think I'll reserve judgment on it until I get to see a final production model up close

And I agree with the others, wait for the Sky :yesway:

The s2000 is a great car but its msrp is 33k, I believe unless he buys it used which is what I would do.

Car and Driver said that the crossfire srt 6 is more of a girls car and it shows this because it only comes with an automatic tranny, but isn't the 3g supposedly a girl car too?

The Solstice is a nice car and my favorite of the bunch, but I also think that the Sky looks better except for the Saturn badge.

Are you retarded? I have a subscription to C&D; no, they didn't

The reason the SRT-6 is an automatic is because the entire drivetrain is sourced from Mercedes' AMG division. AMG has never produced a car with a manual transmission since they don't believe in them due to durability concerns with a clutch.

BTW, a Crossfire convertible doesn't even come close to falling in that price range.
:agreed:

I drove the Crossfire roadster and a BMW Z4 at a Chrysler event last summer. Tight little course, got to push both pretty hard.

I bet more BMWs were sold during that weekend than any other.

I drove a 2.5 Z4 at a local BMW event here, a set course, on back roads, no one else in the car, out of sight from anyone basically, well, I can honestly say that I was not impressed at all with the Z4, not speed wise, but handling, it was better than say a 3G, but not by much, I don't know what the appeal of that car is, it's not particularly fast, and it doesn't have world class handling either, but they sure are proud of it for the price they want for it.

I agree that the Z4 wasn't anything special for the price, but it was head-and-shoulders above the Crossfire.

Since the merger, I've seen more Chrysler influence on Benz' products than the reverse. ...Not a good thing.

yea, my sister bought one of those things and the only thing i liked about is that the girls liked it :twothumb:. Once it's modded, it should be more fun to drive.
