I was thinking about doing this same thing. I wanted to paint my calipers red or blue and cannot make the decision. I've got a silver/black theme going as well, I've seen plenty of guys that have done this and it usually looks pretty good. A simple and relatively cheap way to accent the car.

 

it looks good, i have mine painted solid black because if you have ceramic brake pads, or just brake pads at all, it gets everything around it nasty.

black is always black, even when its dirty =P

 

Good point. Hopefully I will get around to doing this soon. I need to go pick up glass beads so I can sandblast the rotors first :ndance:

 

I just replaced my tires with 6 spoke rims that show off the calipers significantly. i painted them a deep red that looks awsome with the black rims... they stand out well. i started out with just the calipers but ended up painting the the torque plates as well because it made the whole brake assem. look bigger. use a deep red... and plaint the plates... you will be happy. ps. then upgrade to vented discs!!! sick looking

That was my fear of doing two colors, it would make the brakes look tiny :lol:

Personally I would just paint them silver or black, any other color looks like ricer junk to me.

Thanks for all the input guys. Got Rice I saw another member with black and silver decal but for the life of me I can't remember who but it was one of the cleanest black 3Gs I can think of. Mark and Codeman, I agree. Maybe if they were big Brembos or other BBK, red would be more appropriate. Let me see if I can find the other member I know with black calipers. I think I have officially changed my mind :yesway:

And perhaps this is a question for an entirely different thread buy I love his wheels as well (Tork Matrix - I like the black or hyperblack style). But when I shop online for them, every site says they will not fit the 3G :dunno:

 

not a fan of the "Eclipse" sticker, but otherwise I think those look better than trying to make your stock brakes look like a BBK or anything aftermarket.

 

i personally like brake calipers to stand out... i do not think that Vette, Lambo, Ferrari are rice burners and they all have contrasting color brake calipers that "stand out".. now that being said , i totally agree with having the real deal and not faking it with paint. when i can afford it i will in a heart beat. for now red calipers with black rims work for me. thx for the posts.

 

P.S. chrome on black looks awesome. it looks great and much less brake dust will show.

 

Caliper painting is by far the easiest thing to do... You take them off take them apart and take them to your local powder coater. Don't fuck around with paint, it peels off after time, and may or may not hold up to the daily abuse the heat, cleaning, elements as well as powder coat. :agreed:

:yesway: I will look for a decent place to take them around here. I would much rather do it right the first time around then end up having it look like shite. I have learned that the hard way:agreed:

 

Mine are painted with caliper paint - and i think they are just as durable as powdercoating as long as you prepped the painting process correctly, and clean them regularly. I have yet to have any problems.

 

i painted mine with the caliper paint from the store, prepped them well, sanded, cleaned, 3 coats (i think) with roughing up in between. after nearly 2 years they are starting to chip again.

 

i was thinking of getting mine done, what is the average price i should look for to get them power coated. i was just going to do the high heat paint. i am planning on going the gray with blue accents on the car. my interior comes stock with blue accents, i have done some blue under the hood, and i thinking of blue brakes.

 

we charge 140 for a set. but since there is liability issues with brakes then you would have to ship them in completely disassembled with all seals and pistons removed

 

Get a powder coater from summit racing for about 130 bucks. Get the powder of your choice. Hop on craigslist and find an old electric oven for cheap or free. Powdercoat them yourself. Then you can powdercoat anything else you want done too.
