And i must say although i am a fan of nissan and their sports car lineups of the past. I was thoroughly not impressed at all. I drove a manual 6 speed touring edition according to the dude that let me take it for a spin. complaints:

1. I know this sounds wrong, but the damn thing felt way underpowered. i mean it felt as if my 3g with AEM CAI, Header, greddy exhaust, and chip pulled so much harder and felt more torquey. to top if off i dusted him in a race afterwards( but he was a pretty inexperienced driver with to much of daddy's money) but still, DAMN!

2. this one was big for me, the stock suspension was total crap. every tiny crack in the road made the car react as if i was going over speed strips. i know the car is supposed to have a really tight sport tuned suspension for cornering and shit but i fell like it was overdone to the point of losing daily driving comfort.

I still think the car is styled nicely but i feel like its been a bit overhyped. i actually prefer my 3g just cause of ride comfort. maybe ill just get an S-14 instead as my Drift project.

What you guys think? Mark, your thoughts?

I'll talk about number 2 first. Yes the stock suspension is stiff. The stock eclipse suspension is just sad. I dont want to say its soft becuase its worst then that. You get used to the Z's suspension after about a day. The reason you feel every bump and movement you make is because you are in tune with what the car is doing and have more control over it compared to the eclipse. The steering is very tight in the Z compared to the eclipse which is like mush.

Now back to 1. No way thats even possible. I went from my turbo'd 3G to the Z and felt the Z was only a little bit slower then my 3G which was putting about out about 320whp. So your buddy just sucks at driving.

Actually now that I just typed that I realized you didn't say what year Z you drove?

I agree with everything but this one. I raced a 35th anniversary Z with intake and catback with my sporty GT at 7psi and the Z pulled slowly on me. I started in the wrong gear since I wasn't expecting him to jump on it. He let off at around 75mph just when I felt like I was about to catch up.

But anyways, a Z will always be better than a 3G since it's a sports car and the 3G is a sporty coupe :cool2:

:agreed:

Seriously, there is NO comparison between my GT and my G35. I think that neither you or your friend know how to drive because if you did, you wouldn't make such a completely impossible statement about it not pulling harder then your eclipse.

 hmm, like comparing apples to oranges. sorry the Z was not the car for you. maybe you should just stick to the 3G afterall. i know my Z stock performed ten times better than my 3G ever did stock. and i call :bsflag: at your number 1 statement, no way in hell your 3G ever beat a 350Z when you are running just a CAI, bad driver or not.

Yea thats a little hard for me to beilev too. One of our customers has a 350z with CAI and cat back exhaust and it gives our shop '00 mustang gt with full bolt ons, short throw, clutch and damn good tune, a decent run for its money. with all the work I have done to mine, Port and polished heads. port and polished upper and lower intakes, CAI, and header back exhaust. I barely pull on them. I can walk 'em hard on the bottle mind you, but motor to motor they get me.

Re: #1

Operative term here is "felt". This is because with the V6 3G, you are already given at least 90% of max. torque (the engine could ever give) at only 2000~ RPMs. Whereas the powerband of the 350Z is fatter and much higher.

Also, the suspension of the 3G is basic, as to the 350Z's actually sport-tuned suspension, giving a more solid and stable feel. Not to mention cornering, but that's a different subject.

Ultimately, look at your instrumentation and surroundings when accelerating with the 350Z. You'll see your speedo fly vs. the V6 3G.

(BTW, chips do jack squat for the 6G72).

Re: #2

Feeling every bump and expansion joint is a side effect of real sport/race-tuned suspension.

If you want a comfy ride, the 350Z is not the car for you.

And on a side note, the 350Z's suspension is soft, cushy and comfortable compared to the Evo's (stock).

*****

So if you want a real sports car, be ready to make compromises. Until then, wannabe sports cars should suffice.

I have owned both. The Z is a superior car in every single sense. Period

Well since you said so it must be true :fawk:

It's faster, handles better (becasue of a stiff suspension which sacrifices comfort give/take). Looks are subjective, reliability is subjective, rear wheel drive good unless it snows. 2 seats :(, interior rather sucks, that's all I can think of right now. Saying it's better in every single sense well whatever...
