well noone responded to my other post so ill put it here,

i have some logs of my stock car and i am getting larg counts of knock

all the way up to 18, and not spirts.

what could this be?

i also have very bad vibrations past 4,000 RPM

hey i had the same thing going on so i put chevron 87 oct in there and the difference was clearly noticeable. Including the mpg. The following week i drove a little over 300 mi on one tank with speeding.... I can only guess how much better meth injection would improve oct rating and knock counts...

i really think it is because i have extream vibrations going on.

and i use 89 or 91

Getting knock also

I am getting high knock counts (often 8, up to 12) also on my 03 RS which only has AEM V2 and CMF header on and using stock maps. I'm not sure yet if it's real or false knock, but I'd like to know Malachi what you mean by "extreme vibrations" going on ? My AEM V2 and header makes much more roaring and vibrations than when the car was stock, and I'm just wondering if that could be a possible source for false knock readings.

Anyone else with a similar setup and/or problem ?

Thanks

Jeff

I get up to 18 counts of knock on Evoscan too. I'm turbo though. The knock is not audible and I think it is because of piston damage or phantom knock. I was able to snake a light into the spark plug hole and noticed mild pitting on my pistons (probably due to audible knock that I had with a bad tune).

Does Evoscan give bad knock readings? I don't hear knock right now, but Evoscan registers it everytime I go hard on the throttle.

well at about 1,800 rpm i get a virbration. at 1,500 and 2,000 it idles smooth, like it should. and past 4,000 it seems that something is out of balance, its not shaking my car to pieces, but its not normal, i compared it to my friends 2002 rs before we turboed it, and the whole band was smooth.

i plan to do many more logs when i get MY laptop.

You are knocking becuase of the tune. most of the time it's from too much timing. You should see how much the stock evo tune knocks it's mid 20's at some points. 10-12 is nothing to worry about but keep in mind the ecu pulls 1 degree timing for every 3 counts of knock

ok, ummm ok,

can you show an evo tune with 12 knock, because every log iv seen on evom tuned to less then 5, and stock is no where near 12, more like zero across the board.

and i have a stock tune, which for the rs/gs is very tamied

Hey Malachi,

did you find anything regarding the knock issue ? I'm trying to find what causes false knock readings on my 03 RS too (only header and intake as mods).

not yet, i havn't had a laptop to log, but this week i will start logging again

If you have ECUflash then just pull some timing in those areas and see if that helps any. That problem you are having at 4k is probably ignition related. check plugs lately? distributor? What is your AFR?
