Motel Info.

Comfort Inn (828) 669-9950 – $99.99 per night
Super 8 (828) 669-8076 – $62.95 per night
Apple Blossom (828) 669-7922 – $40.00 per night

This is a busy weekend so the rooms are filling up fast. If more than 5 want to stay in the Comfort Inn I need to coordinate that to get the discount. If not the other two don’t offer a discount so you can just make reservations there on your own.

See post below for more detail on Motels.

Cheapest Gas

I26 - For those coming up I26 get gas between exits 28 and about 18. This was the cheapest the whole length of I26 when we came back from Charleston. Definitely fill up because it is at least 10 cents a gallon more up here.

I40 - For those coming up I40 get gas at exit 105. Go under the interstate to the left and it is the first gas station on the right. This was the cheapest gas from around Hickory to here. But if you miss it don't worry about it. It is only about 4 or 5 cents a gallon cheaper than here.

When you all get here I will show you where to top off again before the run to get the cheapest gas here. But everyone should fill up at these two locations before getting into the mountains.

The Plan

Here is the plan so far:

Friday night (For those that want to come up early)
Meet up – After 6 pm, at my house
Local cruising strip – Around 8 pm, just check it out and waste some time driving around.
Nightlife - After 9 pm, Drinks and music in Asheville. I will try to find a good band when we get closer to that weekend. For underaged and nondrinkers there are several places that will let you in but will not let you drink. We will try to find one of these.

Note: Anyone that wants to can stay at my house if you bring a sleeping bag. I have a big house.

Saturday
Breakfast for the hung over - 8 am I will provide eggs and bacon, you have to help cook.
Saturday arrivals - 9 to 11. (don’t come earlier we hung over folks need to sleep late!)
Open time – 9 to 12 Installs? Pictures? Some one bring a gaming station and we can play racing games? Tell lies!!!!!
Rally – Leave around 12 and make the run for Lake Lure over Highway 9. Lunch - Eat at Larkin's on the Lake. Private party in the top floor overlooking the lake. About $10 per person. This place is incredable!
Resume Rally to Blue Ridge Parkway.
Cook out – My house around 6. Hamburger, Hot Dogs and such $6 per person.
Nightlife – Head into town around 8 or 9 to play pool. Got a local private club, The Corner Pocket, that will let us in. They have three tables and lots of other games like darts, ping pong and a few video games. Drinks too for those over 21.

Sunday
Breakfast – 9am For anyone that stays in town Saturday night. Again I will spring for eggs and bacon you have to help cook.

You shits all have to be gone by noon! All stragglers will be put to work! No adoptions! I have three kids already!

All are welcome. Please post on the club3gse site if you would like to attend.

how far is asheville from florence, sc?

#5 ·
damn thats a drive

#6 ·
It is all interstate the whole way from Florence. I take that route when I go to Myrtle. Not a bad drive at all.

I would say we start with a day trip even and if it grows I will be glad to work on more activities and Motel arrangements. Motels are not bad up here this time of the year for anyone that wants to come up the day before or wants to stay that night.

Right now I am looking for ideas on what kind of rally and what other activities people would like to do.

How about finishing up the night with meet at one of the night series auto-x races this summer? It would be awesome to see lots of 3G's show them scoobie and miata boys some mitsu presence :hbang:

May 24th is the first Night Series event. But it is expensive for you guys. It is $20 for a membership then $20 or $25 to race. That is not bad for me because I race every event but you guys would get hit with $40 just for the one night race.

I would be glad to set it up if there are several people that want to race that night. Or we could wind up there just to watch. I will put both on the "ideas list."

The list so far looks like this:

Oldtimer
04MOJOGT
Eclipsed4utoo
Melymel
War00gs
TkellarB
Supergouki
Rfpunch (other site)

Not a bad start. Talk it around. And keep the ideas coming. So now lets talk about when. I was thinking in late April to early May. What do your schedules look like?

#13 ·
as long as it's a saturday, i my schedule should be fine pretty much whenever. i definitely won't be racing or auto-xing. i can't afford to have anything happen to this car. it's the only one i have and i need it to drive to school and work. but i'd still go up there.

Shot for Early May Oldtimer. Remember im not gonan be able to attend meets on the end of a month. Has to the around the 1st. Like the 1st weekend. Also im not worried about racing cause ill be damned if im gonna tear my car up for you Buttholes!!! LOL!!! Just kidding guys.... :worship: But seriously im not gonna race.

#18 ·
Ok so do we ditch the auto cross idea?
Should I begin a list of definite attendees?
One day event sound about right?
Is everyone up on the rally idea? Remember a rally is not a race! It is just a cruise out somewhere. Scenic and curvy. We could stop along the way for food or what ever we want to do.
There is a local cruising strip in town. Not much and we would have to be careful but we could make an appearance.

Other ideas?

So how does May 7th sound? Make it a Saturday event only. Anyone want Motel info? I would suggest Saturday night so you don't have to make a late drive back.

#20 ·
right now...that date seems good with me

#24 ·
i'd come saturday morning. it's not worth it for me to spend money on a hotel when i'm only an hour away. i know some people like eclipsed4utoo is coming from florence, which would probably be 3-4 hours away. so i'm sure lots of people would be down for friday nite too.

#25 ·
it would depend on how early we would start. if we started at like 12....i would just come saturday morning. if we were going to start earlier than that...then i would probably come friday night.
