So, I test drove a 2006 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6 and was pleasantly surprised with how many features it had, and the power it had (4cyl here), and namely the price, $20k nearly loaded.

I wanted to know what you guys thought about these cars or maybe if you knew anybody who owns one and what they thought. Just to get peoples opinions on the car

Thanks

I like the current body style much better than the old style. In Korea they are actually two different cars. Old style is the Tiburon, current style is the Tuscani. I have never driven one, but I think they look really nice, especialy compared to a Celica or other alternative

If I was going to stay in this car neighborhood, I would get something like a Scion tC instead.
Pretty much.

But why stay in said car neighborhood, the wrong-wheel-drive, economy-under-engineered, trying-extremely-hard-but-just-can't-cut-it, wanna-be sporty coupe arena? :ugh:

Wait a bit, save more, and move up is what I mean with my previous post.

buddy of mine just got one, traded in his 99 T/A for, he miss the power he had but is loving the mileage, he is enjoying the car though
What? He traded an LS1 for a Tiburon?

Why does it have to be new? There are a fuck-ton of used cars out there that would be a far better purchase than a new Tiburon.

Or maybe wait and see what Toyota will be bringing out.

"WHISPERS: Toyota Planning New 250-hp Scion tC
Date posted: 08-11-2005

TOKYO — The grapevine in Japan is whispering about a hot, new 250-horsepower pure sport coupe from Toyota, coming next year, which would also double as a new Celica in Japan.

Japan's moles say they've uncovered secret plans for a new pure sport coupe from Toyota, apparently based around the Scion tC. The unnamed model, due in 2006, has 2.4-liter power, like the tC, yet is good for a reputed 250 horsepower.

Toyota is aiming at Honda's stellar Integra Type R (the more exotic, faster version of America's Acura RSX). And the idea would also be to inject some extra speed and enthusiast muscle into the tC.

America will soon bid farewell to the Celica, so this new 250-hp sport coupe would be a welcome replacement. Across in Japan, the talk is Toyota would rebadge it as the eighth-generation Celica.

While the Celica as we know it is 1.8-liter, the story goes that this new model would jump up to a special high-performance 2.0-liter motor, which may be called 2AZ-GE.

What this means to you: Biggest problem with Scion? No power. Thus, this super tC sounds super-cool; let's hope it makes it into the showrooms here."
Also this bit.

I'm just not a big fan of Hundai in general. Sams idea sounds like a pretty good one though.
THey have made some serious strides. I rented an Azera when i was out in San Fran, and all i can say is the market better watch out. That thing was packed with gizmos, had lots of power, and rode very nice. I think loaded its right around 30k. Not a bad deal at all.

Actually I just looked and you cant get nav. The one i rented had an aftermarket unit in it, i just assumed they would offer it from the factory too. Oh well, still a nice car at a low price.

Well I drive a GS so the V6 Tiburon IS a step up for me, especially with all the standard features it has. I think I want to look towards V6 instead of 4cyl because I just want power now, not modify it over the next few years, problem is, the only affordable V6 coupes on the market right now (for me) are the Eclipse (3g GT/GTS) and the Tiburon V6, but new 3g's are hard to find

Isn't it ironic! Hyundai originally started as Mitsubishi copycat company, making a lot less reliable, simplified Mitsubishi models, but now we hear people talk about Mitsubishi -> Hyundai swap as a trade up :noplease:

I think Tbrn V6 is a hot looking car and I heard nothing bad about it, here is my $.02.

If I had $20k to spend on a car I could think of a lot of different possiblities, Used Sti, Newer Wrx, Scion, boxster, 350z, just to name a few
 Umm, ok I don't think you can get a NEW 350z for $20k in the states. Thats what I mean, I'm looking for a new car with a good warranty.

And yes, it's very ironic that Hyundai started that way, but now it out-classes my Eclipse on almost every level. Fit, finish, power, accessories, handling. It really is wierd, and hard to think of buying from a car company like Hyundai.
