but the motor would be facing the "wrong" way... as in the same way as the 2G's would face?
If it faces the same way as ours or am i missing something important...
if not then there wouldnt be as big of a problem with the crossmember would there?

I have one of those trans sitting here for my 4G63 swap into my Opel GT. ;)

Wanna talk about a cool little drift car whenever I get it done...

You won't clear the front sub frame assembly. Period.

The rear wheel drive version 4g64 has a different bellhousing and it will not bolt up to a regular dsm/3g tranny.

Then why does the rwd transmission bolt up to the 4G63?

Ah that explains it then. I have a narrow trans. :bigthumb:

not to sound like a prick...
but why not look under your hood and see the obvious answer? :\

you need to make a tunnel for it.. and what about the steering rack?

as far as my limited knowledge goes:

the best way to get a 4g64 RWD is to do an evo AWD swap and modify tranny/transfer case to keep it from spinning the front wheels.

there was an article in a either superstreet or d-sport about how they modified the evo in F&F Tokyo Drift in order for it to be RWD, there is also another article in a more recent mag about a blue evo that is competing in drift events now too..

i only know all this because I was considering it but its just not cost effective. But it would be awsome to see a 3g drift. :hspin:

^^
I have actually looked into this (no not so i can drifto, but because I was curious). A cheap way of doing it would be to simply remove the shaft portion of the front cv's.

shepard, for example runs a RWD setup on his dsm that is running in the 7's

if you had the money and initiative to do it the 3g would probably be a great drift car.

I've always thought that the 3g looked like a wide car suitable for drifting. The rear wheel wells have decent room for wider tires too (not great, but decent)

the suspension would need work and there's not alot of support as far as aftermarket parts go. But it would the first 3g to compete in drifting.

Think if napalm, balla, anyone with the evo head and turbo converted to RWD and did some suspention work. Those cars would be killer for drifting.
