I'm not in love with the styling of the new Stang but I do recognize it as an improvement over the current generation. Heck, developing a new platform for it, the first in 26 years, is radical in and of itself for Ford.

 

Yeah, it's really a shame. The concept had such promise, and they pretty much took all the things that made the concept look good, and tossed them out the window.

 

they really tried to go to that old fastback look a bit too hard. looks more like an old mach 1 rear with a pre 70's front

 

its a huge improvement of whats out now...im ont really keen on the placement of the fog lights...but the rest of i pretty much like. would look better in red or black...

What tha fuck, the concept pictures of the 05 looked way sicker than it does now. But than again, that always happens. The concept pics always look way sicker than the real thing.

 

Needs some Cobra rims and then that would look like hot shit.

 

I think the car looks great. It needs to be lowered, but looks awesome otherwise. I never cared for the 94+ Mustangs though, as I have always been a whore for Fox bodies

The only thing I don't like is the circa 1966 rear side window treatment. Unless I'm mistaken, 66 was the only year the fastback Mustangs had rear windows like that-- from 67 on, they were either small extensions of the door windows or nothing at all. Which along with the body vents along the side (instead of a stylistic curve in the body line), is the glaring difference between the concept and the production model. These two aspects, ESPECIALLY the body vent, are two that I am very surprised did not make production, atleast for first year. Maybe it is for safety reasons (and obvious rearward visibility issues), but make mine with vents for rear windows and vented sides, like the concept.

The rumor is that it's putting down 275hp at their place, which would be like 320 or so at the crank. So nice to see Ford is still in the underrating business.


And actually, the concept was built AFTER the real car. The real car was never going to look exactly like that. It was just a showcase of upcoming parts, models, ideas, etc.

Some problem with vendors held up the 18 inch rim option, it will be available late 05 or 06.

The fit and finish on the car is awesome. It really is a 30k interior in a 20k car. Built at the same plant as the Mazda 6, and it delivers all the build quality that car has and more.

 

 

YUCK!! im not a ford fan anyway but that dont look right. I dunno i dont like mustangs at all but i think the 04's look better. Maybe its the wheels. THe Yellow Steeda looks ok.

It really is cool all the features they packed into it. It even has that little "window dance" that BMW and Audi's do to ensure a good seal when you close the door. I'm waiting till 06 because I really want the titanium gray, and the rumor is it will be avail then. Also the factory 18s should be out by then as well.
