Alright, enough of this... I owned a 92 eclipse GS till it died and before doing any research I thought what better car to get than a new 03 GTS. I love the look of the G3 and the way it handles. But the more I search the web and talk to people, what ever ego I had is being "pwned". Even in these forums sounds like alot of you would rather own other cars. Anyone tell me why they bought their G3's and why they still own them? I love my car but I have been looking at others and wondering if it's worth keeping.

I bought it on a buyer's impulse (The worse thing for buying a new car), and I still have it because the trade-in value is terrible.

03' Eclipse GS

I love my 03' GS. I had a 96' GS prior and my 03' is even faster. There is a lot of potential with the 4 cylinder in this car. It takes mods like a champ. Most these other fools cry because they want brand name shit like DC and Skunk all this crap that is for Hondas and acuras. Look around and you can find anything for this car under well known brand names DC heads greddy, invidia, magnaflow exhaust, injen and aem intakes the possibilities are endless. It even has like 3 or 4 turbo kits now which will put you over 300 HP in a 4 cylinder. Take any corner with a good amount of speed and you will see that it handles like a monster. Combine that with the looks of it and you have one hell of a car. It may not get in all the tuner mags because it is not a japanese import but who wants to be on japan's dick anyways. We are in america. I just got back from Japan in March and everyone over there tries to be american by putting Infinity logos on there Nissans and Acura logos on their Honda's so if people really want to be like Japanese they would keep shit the way it is. Just my opinion blast me if you will I don't care. By the way I have not had one single problem with my Eclipse and my G35 coupe has been in the shop like 5 times for stupid shit. Both 03's with 20,000 miles.

I love mine too.

I realized a long time ago, that sometimes I'd rather have an RSX, sometimes I'd rather have a Celica, sometimes I'd rather have an SRT4, sometimes I'd rather have a WRX, sometimes...

Basically no matter what you own you always wonder about owning something else. I'd be happy with any of those cars, but I have a 3G and I'm fine with that, I love it.

You need to figure out if *you* like it and ignore everyone else.

I agree with Tracer. If you like the car and you want it F the rest and get what makes you happy.

I got my 3g because i always wanted on since 00 and i do wish i got something bigger like a Maxima/Altima etc. But my 3g is nice and i love it. It gets looks Stares.. swarms of Kids pointing......So its all good.

Still love my car. :agreed:

2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, 5 speed in Titanium Pearl.

 Enjoy every commute, every trip to the store, every turn around the track, and especially every trip to the mountains. Oh yes I do bitch about the lack of power, and it gets worse in the hills, but it still has plenty to pass even going UP the pass.

i got mine because (just like Mojo) i had wanted one since they had come out in 2000. i liked the body lines and when they came out wit the new bumpers i loved them even more! they have potential. turbo and SDS kits. intakes and exhausts. plenty of suspension pieces! you have an array of upgrades to put on and when your done you will have an awesome compact that looks better than the rest!

I love my 01 GT. It has so much potential in my eyes. Love every second that I am in her. I also have a Chevy S-10 as my daily driver and every time Im driving in it im thinking about driving the 3g! :p It may sound corny but that is how I feel. :fawk2:

Go for it. As long as you take care of it, you'll be satisfied with it. Two years later, I still love driving my GTS and I still stare at it in the parking lot. It's not the fastest or lightest sports coupe out there, which is why some folks have moved to other platforms, like AWD, etc.

I still love my 3G GTS because I knew what I was getting when I bought it. I wasn't looking for a racer. I wanted a solid daily driver that looked good, and could let loose on the weekend.

00 GT. Impulse buy. I loved it but it wasn't fast enough for me and I didn't feel like spending $3500 cash to turbo it. I had it for 3 years and never had a serious problem out of it. I got rid of it a couple of months ago though. I have an Evo now.

Coolcool. I guess I see the eclipse for what it is. I knew such a heavy coupe wouldn't be a ricer :nono: but hey, who knows. I love my car and soon I'll have 3grandish to work with on it, so I should feel much better after spending a little money on it.

I have a love/hate relationship for my car as well. It almost got traded in when my harmonic balancer went out, because I was furious with the car at the time, however things with the new suv didnt go as planned, and I'm actually glad I kept it now. Current gas prices and the acronym, "SUV" don't mix. I still think the Stratus/3g's are some of the nicest looking non-exotic cars out there in stock form, and with aftermarket accesssories, they look even better. Not to mention the sound of the engine with the CAI/WAI. Some may beg to differ, but the stock exhaust note isn't bad, neither. I got a hell of a deal on my car, and its been good thus far, just requires a little more maintenance than I would like to pay for, at times. I'll admit, I'd much rather have an RX8, but this car will probably be around for a few more years to get me through college...which it still isn't a bad car at all for a college student.

Yeah these threads rarely show up (and I wish more of them would, because sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that loves my car), but yeah...I love my '01 Spyder GT. Talk about stares - I get them all the time. Hell about once a day I have to turn around and look at my car myself after parking it, just to admire it. And for those of you who say it doesn't have enough power - it's got more than anything I've ever had, and it's only gonna get more powerful the more mods I do. My biggest complaint at this point honestly would be the handling - it's not bad, but I do notice that my wife's Sunfire actually corners better on a couple of really hilly, curvy roads around here. I figure KYB's and some coilovers (or Tein Basics) and a rear sway bar and that'll probably change.

01 Rs (impulse buy) had a love hate relationship with it but lately i have been loving it. I love how it looks it really grows on you, I even get comments on it and its only an rs. As long as you keep it clean everyone will love it, I am about 85% done with my FI kit so soon i will have the best of both worlds.

If i can deal with my Rs others here can't really complain but to each his own.

Id have to agree with everyone else. I'm proud to be an owner of a 3G. When they first came out, I told myself that I wanted one, (particulary a red one) and two years down the road, she sits in my driveway. I never was concerned about the power it could push but more of the design. When I test drove the car, I got stares, when I drove it home, there were more stares. Even to this day, I always get stares and thats when I know my car stands out. People dont give the 3g's enough credit and dont realize that they are built for comfortability to the driver instead of hp. Except for the evo. After all is said and done, this is one proud owner of a Mitsubishi

I didn't used to be into the whole "car" thing, and loved the way the car looked and sounded. Plus, it was a HUGE step up from my first car. I have a real love/hate relationship with her right now, so yeah.
:agreed: I love my car. I've learned more about cars from owning this than all the repair work I put into the '90 Ranger I traded in to get it.

I bought my GS back when i knew pretty much nothing about cars (not that i know much more now....). I though the sporty was the coolest thing ever, mainly because at the timei couldnt drive stick and it was a hell of alot cooler looking than the other stuff i was seeing in my price range.

I love my 00'GT. It keeps getting/looking better with everything I do. But I loved its looks right out of the box. Other than being on the narrow side, it has the styling of racecar (LeMans style GT car) and a great sounding stock exhaust. Handling I felt was the weakest and its been rectified.

The car is no slouch. Its not the fastest thing on wheels, but its quick enough. Besides its more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. All my friends think its super fast, even though they drive hotter cars.

Overall I couldn't be happier with my 3G or my ralliart lancer. Both are beautiful machines. Mitsu builds good cars don't care what anyone says.
