I plan on selling me eclipse around the end of this summer now that I have some equity in the thing. I have only looked at 2 cars and they were the Evo MR, and 35th Ann. 350z. But I still am undecided and wondered if there were any short comings of the 350z that anyone knows about?

The Evo was just a little to 4-door for me. I figure the 350z still offers what I liked about he eclipse being basically a 2 seater, but with ALOT of room for hp improvement....not just looks.

Any one have ideas for other cars that I might be over looking? I've also considered the S2000, but that's alot more $$$ for what you get. And a 4g is just retarded looking and I'm done with FWD cars. I would like a mid-grade car that can compete, not chase. My budget is about $30k-34ish respectively.

ehh, :ugh: not sure if I could maintain that bad dog. Aren't those alot higher priced than what I can afford? Or am I in the low end price range? Either way, not a big fan of the car for what it would cost me to mod. I'd be a broke ho before I even got started! :p

For your price range I'd vote for the 35th Anniversary 350Z!

It's overpriced for what you are getting.

:agreed:

I think the Enthusiast or the Performance model is the sweet spot unless one wants the factory the Nav. And if one just has to have the big brakes, one can get Stoptechs with the money saved from not getting a Track or Anniv. Edition model.

The new Track and Anniversary models have different cams, pistons, and have variable timing on the exhaust side as well as the intake side. Although I agree that the Enthusiast or Performance Zs are the best bang-for-your-buck, especially if you're going to modify the car, the Track Z isn't a bad deal either if you take the modified engine into account.

That, a different badge and different rims justify the price hike, over the less HP'd mildly different engined regular VQ35 Z variants?

300 Horsepower 35th Anniversary Model Starts at $36,100

Thirty six thousand dollars, is it really worth that much more for engine tweaks? I see it as a total waste.

Wow, $36k?? A fully loaded G35 coupe with all options except an aero kit costs that much  A well-equipped Z can be had for $28k-$29k, I'd definitely pass on the Anny edition. Hell, the JWT or HK$ cams will give you much bigger gains, you can find lighter and more attractive rims and combined with the aforementioned Stoptechs, all can be had for much less than that $8k price hike.

Unless you absolutely MUST have that bl1ng yellow color

Yeah, I'm probably lookin at a lower end model of the 350, but still that is what I want. I dumped a couple grand into my eclipse and I've got nothing to show for it. Atleast if I do that with the 350, I will have my own personal satisfaction of knowing it CAN be worked with.

Thanks for the input....this was what I was looking for.

yea, i would definitely go with any 350z model over an evo. starts of NA with more hp than a turbo'd evo and looks a hell of a lot better.

Just because the Z has more crank horse power on paper doesn't mean it's faster than the EVO. The EVO still runs faster 1/4 miles, faster 0-60's, etc. As you know, there are many other factors that determine speed besides HP. The reason he would want to get the 350Z over the EVO is because he wants a sports car in the classical sense (two door, two seater), or he wants to stay N/A and not worry about the added care with a FIed vehicle, or he just plain thinks the Z looks better, or he wants RWD, etc.
