I've owned both, I went from 3g to Evo to 350Z. I personally liked the Z over the evo as a daily driver. What about an RX-8, Mustang GT, GTO?

I think the Enthusiast or the Performance model is the sweet spot unless one wants the factory the Nav. And if one just has to have the big brakes, one can get Stoptechs with the money saved from not getting a Track or Anniv. Edition model.

The new Track and Anniversary models have different cams, pistons, and have variable timing on the exhaust side as well as the intake side. Although I agree that the Enthusiast or Performance Zs are the best bang-for-your-buck, especially if you're going to modify the car, the Track Z isn't a bad deal either if you take the modified engine into account.

That, a different badge and different rims justify the price hike, over the less HP'd mildly different engined regular VQ35 Z variants?

Thirty six thousand dollars, is it really worth that much more for engine tweaks? I see it as a total waste.

 

Wow, $36k?? A fully loaded G35 coupe with all options except an aero kit costs that much :sweat: A well-equipped Z can be had for $28k-$29k, I'd definitely pass on the Anny edition. Hell, the JWT or HK$ cams will give you much bigger gains, you can find lighter and more attractive rims and combined with the aforementioned Stoptechs, all can be had for much less than that $8k price hike.

Yeah, I'm probably lookin at a lower end model of the 350, but still that is what I want. I dumped a couple grand into my eclipse and I've got nothing to show for it. Atleast if I do that with the 350, I will have my own personal satisfaction of knowing it CAN be worked with.

Just because the Z has more crank horse power on paper doesn't mean it's faster than the EVO. The EVO still runs faster 1/4 miles, faster 0-60's, etc. As you know, there are many other factors that determine speed besides HP. The reason he would want to get the 350Z over the EVO is because he wants a sports car in the classical sense (two door, two seater), or he wants to stay N/A and not worry about the added care with a FIed vehicle, or he just plain thinks the Z looks better, or he wants RWD, etc.

Those are the exact reasons (plus the head-and-shoulders better styling) that I'd purchase a "Z-car" over an Evo.
