Bone stock 2000 RS. My car died when I was driving down the road. I tried to start it again and the car cranks over but won't start. And normally, when you turn the key on, the check engine comes on for a few seconds. It doesn't do that now. I'm getting ready to print out the ECU pinout and start checking wires. I just replaced the ecu today so I don't think the ECU is toast since it came out of a runner.

Ok so I just checked the 12v switched power and ground on my ecu and I didn't have power. So i replaced the blown fuse under the hood (number 13) and now the check engine light does what it should, but the car still won't start. I have a good ground. I'm not sure what else to check other than the crank sensor, which I already checked and it's reading fine.

Like a true dumbass, I completely forgot that our cars have an immobilizer. I'm gonna go throw the old ECU back in and see what happens.

Well I got it to start and run, but on my way out of my driveway when I shifted, I got a wire caught in the linkage and shorted it out again and now I have no power to the Crank sensor. Time to trace wires.

Yea I put the original ECU back in it, but after it died the last time, I couldn't get it to start again and I checked the crank sensor and I have no power at it. I ran a new power wire for it and it still wouldn't start so I think I fried the sensor.

I'm now throwing code p1610 for the immobilizer after I bypassed the juction block in the dash behind the heater box, where the wires come through the firewall. I think maybe the wires need to go to the ECU. Does any1 know if I'm correct?
