Goodbye 3G! :wavey:
______________________________________________________________

2010 Hyundai Genesis Couple 3.8L Track Edition
- 314hp@6,300rpm, 266 lb-ft@4,700rpm
- 6-speed (proper) manual transmission
- 4-piston Brembos
- 19 inch wheels (245/40 rear & 225/40 front)
- Torsen LSD
- Fully loaded (Navi/Bluetooth/Xenon HID's/etc)
- 0-60mph ~ 5.5 seconds, 152mph top speed (limited)

Picked this thing up a few weeks ago. :ndance: It's my first "big boy car" as I call it, compared to the 3G. :yesway: Excuse the pictures, all I have currently is my iPhone 4S.

Brembos from the factory as part of the Track Edition. They work WELL.

And my recent trip to Kentucky.

Of course, I have to scratch that natural itch to modify my vehicle so here's what I have done (already).

Image

Ark Racing GRiP V1 cat-back exhaust.

Image

Stock exhaust gone...

Image

...new exhaust on!

Image

Ohhh...ahhh.

Here is a video of it. (Hope it shows up)

It sounds all snap, crackly, and poppy at times.

All of the gay looking fake chrome badges on the back started to annoy me so I debadged it and put a black wing emblem on instead. MUCH cleaner.

Image

Pedobear is watching you...

I couldn't just stop there, due to the growing threat of LIDAR guns, I opted for some protection on top of my radar detector.

Image

Laser Elite LE-X2 "Laser Parking Sensor System"

Image

Proper way to tap into a +12V circuit.

Image

Little assistance with the wire tuck for a factory finish.

Image

Signal wires from sending units were run through stock conduits to retain a clean, stock look.

Image

Every car needs a little red button & toggle switch.

Image

Alert speaker mounted from mirror and aimed at driver. Wrapped with the other wire bundle to look stock.

Image

Temporary but clean placement of the alert LED. I don't have my tools from home to make a better home for it (yet).

Image

Incognito. The grille is gonna go in a week or two when my new one arrives in the mail, so the placement and modification on this one is mediocre at best.

I also don't have any pictures of the Diode Dynamics Stage 2 white LED replacement kit for the stock halogen bulbs in the interior and some on the exterior but I'll work on getting some pictures of that.

Comments welcome!

Nice upgrade! I'm definitely a fan of the styling, and I've always thought the track package was the way to go. Does this happen to be an R-Spec though?

Either way, I like the way you're going with it. Nice and clean and the exhaust tips look pretty good :yesway:. Once you get the new grille it'll help even more.

My only 2 requirements were that it be a V6 and a manual transmission. The Interlagos yellow wasn't my first choice of color but it slowly grows on you. The 2013-Up models with the different front end just look weird to me, but they did get direct injection so I'm still a little bit jealous. I got a good deal on this one and it was a Track Edition so I jumped on it.

Future Mod list:
-Grimmspeed phenolic plenum spacer
-AEM DryFlow drop in filter (well designed stock airbox can stay)
-Lamin-X 30% smoke tail light vinyl wrap
-ECU tune w/top speed limiter removed

5 years ago you COULD NOT have paid me enough to drive a Hyundai and the mere thought of it made me vomit in my mouth. Then, Hyundai pulled a 180 and really got their shit together. I drove it and said I'll take it. I've had a few remarks that "it's a Hyundai..." but usually they shut up once they go for a ride or drive it themselves. The smile on their face says it all.

Sounds like you read my post in the OT. ;) They are called "laser parking assist" thingymabobs because 1) it actually is a functional parking assist which I obviously didn't buy it for (but hey, it's not a bad thing to have), and 2) it came from the UK where it's illegal to jam LIDAR. In the manual it states that if it encounters any interference it will attempt to jam it in order to maintain proper operation so you don't "park too fast". :fawk:

Ahh yes, I kind of figured the R-Spec was yet a different trim but hey, never know.:ninja2:

I do really like the grille you have coming, it'll look great.:yum:

My only issue is that currently as it sits, my LIDAR jamming system is untested, and it's not exactly like it's a great idea to approach a Highway Patrol Officer and say "Hey, do you mind trying to get a speed reading on me with your LIDAR gun to see if my jamming sytem to avoid you people works right? Thanks, bro."

Just an update since August.

Image

Got a bunch of stuff.

Image

Made my own grounding kit with some 4awg wire from KnuKonceptz

Image

Installed EBC redstuff pads so my Brembos actually stop as they should.

Image

Drained and refilled with all Redline driveline fluids.

Image

Transmission

Image

Rear differential.

Image

Put 30mm and 20mm wider tires on it. General G-MAX AS-03's.

Image

Ignore the plastidip under the corner that I've been too lazy to remove.

Image

Clay barred, polished, sealed, and waxed.

Image

Random photo by the local castle.

Image

And on the more professional side of things, I quite literally survived the cut as on tv and earned my maroon beret.

Thanks. I actually didn't get a promotion through the course, just the title of a "Nightstalker", but I am due for a promotion in the new few months so close enough. :yesway:

Love this car still
Thanks man. I get nothing but compliments over it and it's a ton of fun. The 3.8 V6 is the way to go in my book, and the 2013 and on model lineup gets direct injection so instead of a measly 314hp like mine has, they get 348hp. Not too shabby for a Hyundai.

i missed the part about the tires-- you'll like those. it's the 4th set i know now including my car.. and they're cheap!
They are pretty awesome so far. I'm running 275's in the rear and 245's up front. stock is 245 and 225, respectively.

Absolutely love it! This is the exact car I am upgrading to after graduation...either in this color or Mirabeau Blue. I even joined the gencoupe forums already so that I can really get a feel for the car  Anyways, keep up the great work and continue to give us updates! What's next on the mod list?

Ya know, the Interlagos Yellow was NOT my first choice of color, but damnit it grows on you! That and it's stupid easy to find in a parking lot. The only downside is that since there just aren't all that many Gen Coupes out there, people always know where you are . The grey color (can't remember the name" looks sharp as hell, and I kind of like the green, too. I've only seen one green, ever. I'm on the Gen Coupe forum, also. Same username.

Next up on the mod list is probably an ECU tune from SFR whenever I get around to it, which increases HP/TQ/MPG/driveability, eliminates the top speed governor (152mph) and completely turns off any computer assists (stability control, etc) when I manually turn off the TCS. Stage 2 clutch with a lightweight steel flywheel (not aluminum) to get rid of the OEM dual-mass clutch that is a total pain in my ass and ~$2,900 in parts alone to replace from the factory.

Nice pick up, needs black headlights. ;)

Any plans on new wheels?
I've been looking at the headlights unsure of what I want to do with them in the future. I definitely want the rear lights smoked, but I think I'm going to get some vinyl film to do it so it looks even and perfect all over and is must less work than VHT Niteshades which can come out bad and more or less ruin a set of expensive tails. Lamin-X makes pre-cut vinyls that I'm looking at, my only concern is that I personally do not want to make my brake lights dimmer because I want people to get every bit of help they can to see my brake lights go on. Lets face it, the general public and average driver is fairly retarded. :agreed:. As far as wheels, I really do like the stock 19's that come on it quite a bit. No plans in the future to upgrade but there are a metric shit ton of wheels that look great on this car. I would love to lower it, however my ARK Racing exhaust sits extremely low to the ground and without getting it modified I'd be hitting it constantly. I already hit it on certain speed bumps. :ninja2:

P.S. I'm moving near Savannah, Ga at the end of the week for both of you Georgians.

Definitely :yesway::agreed: I want to feel established ASAP down there and have some car guys to hang out with.

I really like the Genesis Coupes and I considered one before getting our Evo X. Your car has very tasteful mods and looks very clean. I really like the Ark exhaust. I have considered getting the DT-S exhaust for the Evo, but have to wait for some funds to free up. By far one of the best built exhausts around.

Keep it clean!
Five years ago you could not have paid me enough to drive a Hyundai, when I took a Genesis for a spin I was astounded and had to get one. Lucked out in finding a Track Edition and I absolutely love it. I try to keep everything tasteful considering my job needs me to appear very professional at all times, too. The Ark exhaust is phenomenal in that it has the helmotlz resonators welded onto the mufflers which counter-resonate the drone associated with many aftermarket exhaust systems. Under normal driving conditions it sounds similar to stock but under WOT it sounds very aggressive, yet clean. Had nothing but compliments from everyone on everything from the body style, interior, performance, sound, you name it.
