well i hate to speculate but,i have the mitsu 2004 calendar,and in that calandar is a pic of the new eclipse that my local dealarship say IS what it WILL look like....and in that picture the new eclipse has an INTERCOOLER!!!!!!

I'm calling crock of shit unless you scan a pic. You're probably mistaking the radiator for an intercooler. The amount of money it'll take to develop an all new platform and drivetrain for the Eclipse exceeds Mitsu's bankrupt self.

If Mitsu throws out a RWD 6-speed Eclipse for 2005 or 2006, I will shit my pants and take pictures of said event for posterity.

Stig, thats not the new eclipse. Thats a different model that Mitsu is planning on releasing, if at all. It is more related to the Evo. The name of that model I cant remeber and never will, but I remember reading about it in one of those European performance magazines while at my university library.

so i was talking in depth with a FACTORY mitsu rep today...because basically my car is a lemon...and i asked him what the deal with the new eclipse was..and he said ill show you but if you tell anyone ill lose my job...and he got out his lap top and showed me...and now..im tellin you..................
the new eclipse WILL look almost identical to the 1 million dollar concept car...they only had a pic of the hardtop model.....it WILL have a 255 hp 3.5 L MVTECK(sp?) and 6 speed manual and i think it said 5 speed auto,,,,,
and it also said an available 315 watt ROCKFORD FOSGATE sterio system
if you dont beleive me.....when all this goes public...look back at this thread and youll see i was right...
the rep also told me that higher up factory people ARE members of club 3g...and that they read our stuff...so write what you feel about your car...because they are reading!!!!(i told him about club 3g.com..and what happened..and now there is a new one)
he also told me about some limited edition evo's coming out also....japan models...only 200 coming here...288hp
the only thing he told me that he said was a factory rumor..not concrete like the eclipse or evo stuff i just said was that the japaneese GTO was coming here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!that is the 3000 gt right???????
i almost forgot to say that factory rep was really surprised that mitsu was giving a tour today for the people who went to BTN...because he said mitsu has already made 50 4g eclipse's...for crash testing!

Dude, *READ* news reports rather than believing what some service manager is going to tell you. Mitsubishi Motors North America is a wholly different division from its Japanese parent company. Mitsubishi is the only Japanese automaker right now that is losing money in America and they are on the verge of bankruptcy. Mitsubishi Japan over the past year has distanced themselves and has little much to do with N. American operations. Hell, after only a year of expansion into Canada, they're already set to pull out of that market.stig said:

Guy, that's not the new Mitsubishi Eclipse, that's the Tarmac Spyder concept. And it's just that, a concept vehicle. The underpinnings of that car are the Lancer Evo drivetrain and a 300-horse version of the 4G63. Mitsubishi only used it as a design excercise to garner more interest for the brand and has no plans to further develop a production version.stig said:new eclipse???

Everything you just said in this post has already been stated here and in press releases more than a month ago. The '05 Eclipse will be a FWD V6 just like the current version and will continue to use the Galant platform including a MIVEC version of the 3.5-litre engine that powers the latter (the current Galant only has MIVEC in the 4-cylinder version; that engine also powers the Lancer Ralliart). Transmission choices are still up in the air, IIRC, but it probably will be a standard manual transmission (no sequential-manual shift) with 6-spds as per the rumors you've heard.
The limited-edition Evo coming to the States that you speak of is the Lancer Evolution MR of which if you do a SEARCH in this forum, you'll find complete specifications and a confirmation that it will, indeed, be coming later this year or early next.
The Japanese GTO (aka the 3000GT here in the U.S.) stopped production in 2002 and there is no successor in the Land of the Rising Sun and as such, there's no existing car to bring here to the U.S. Sorry to further step on your dreams (well... more than I've already done here) but that particular rumor is definitely false.
well i already stated that the 3000 gt was NOT concrete..............and i was just stating that the factory rep showed me a picture of the new eclipse...and the specs.....and your not stepping on my dreams....i was just stating facts showed to me by a factory rep........and my mitsu is a p.o.s and i will be starting lemon law proceedings within a week.....and will probally get a convertible supercharged 320hp chrysler crossfire...mitsu in my dreams??????? :nuts:
