Would I be better off getting this service done at the dealership? I'm trying to figure out if I'd be better off shelling out the extra money and to have the dealership do my 60k service...........

Any thoughts?

Yea getting the pump shouldnt cost much more, the belt is already off so why not. And I dont recommend take it to some one outside the dealer. When I attempted to get a my car flushed from a mechanic shop, I found they were joy riding in my car and showing it off to the people are Jiffy Lube and the tires shop next door. :noplease:

60K tune up is an expensive thing. My dealer was going to run me $1,600. So I took it to my mechanic, he did it for $800 and I know that he did just as good of a job if not better than the dealer, but whatever you do, take it somewhere you trust.

fuck that, I don't trust the dealership here at all. Don't even trust the dealership I bought my car from either after they tried to screw me over once. Dealership down here really is nothing but a bunch of crooks. Wanted to charge me $100 to give me my radio code because "they had to take apart my stereo, which takes a skilled technician AT LEAST a half hour, so they can get a code off the back". Fuck that. And wanted to charge me 45 mins of labor charges to switch out the turn signal lever when it broke. Fuck that, I bought the damn switch for however much it was, and 5 minutes later, in front of the jackass mechanic at the dealership, changed it.

I ALWAYS take my car to a local shop. My whole family takes our cars there, mom, dad, sister, aunt, grandmother....hell, we should own stock in the damn store...or at least get frequent discounts. They do all the work and maintenance and scheduled stuff, like 45k, 50k, soon to be 60k......

It's sad that you can't find decent local mitsu dealership! I'm definatley going with the dealership, because finding a private shop that is knowledgeable with the 3G is hard to come by! The majority of the local shops in my area can't even fix late model cars right the first time around!!!

Anyhow....................the 60K service on the 3G is kinda on the pricey side.............oh well.............

Private mechanics are mostly crooks and have no idea what they are doing. They like to do the bare minimum they can get away with. So that being said I always take mine to the dealer for important stuff...
I just did my 60k service(4cyl) at a dealership. I had the T-belt, P/S pulley+belt, water pump, oil pressure sending unit replaced for 950$.

Holy shit! I just called a few Mitsu dealerships in the area. Performance Mitsubishi in Cincinnati wanted $1299 for the 60k mile service :nuts:

Jeff Wyler Mitsubishi told me they had a special going fro $999 :noway:

WTF is up with the dealerships here in Cincinnati trying to rip people off?
