hi everyone, I am new to this site but not to DSM's, I've had 14 1G's and i turbocharged a 1G n/t here:
http://dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205307

so now I bought a 3G hoping for more reliability however the power is quite disappointing. I have about 5k saved up and I decided to the turbo conversion.

I've read completely through clouds thread however a thread for my car would help me turbo my car alot faster and answer questions not asked/answered in other threads.

HP goal->320-350WHP

--Exhast--
Turbo-Evo3 16G
Exhaust manifold-Stock evo drilled 38MM for external WG
Wastegate-Tial 38MM
Exhaust-2.25" downpipe, 2.5" HF cat, 3" Cat back

--Intake--
Air Filter-K&N
MAS-Stock pull through
Intercooler-FMIC
Piping- 2.5" universal piping cut to fit
Couplers-Silicone

--Fuel--
Injectors-550cc's (anyone know of any High impedence ones????)
Fuel Pump-Walboro 255LPH
FPR-not sure yet

--Electrical--
ECU-Stand alone, not sure which yet
Gauges-Autometer Cobalt Boost/Air-Fuel/Oil Pressure

--Engine--
Pistons-Forged 8.5:1 (Where do I find these?)
Head-Stock, problems w/15-20PSI?
Adjustable cam gear-Need one?

--Turbo Fitments--
Oiplan-will and EVO one bolt up?
Oil Feed-SS and -an fittings, feed from where? buy a sandwich plate?
Oil return-SS and -an fittings
Water lines-Should I use the intake manifold ones?

I mainly need links to places w/the best prices, SBR and other sites will push me over my $5k mark.

I would do the ECU flash but didn't u say it's only for the 03 and up? I have an 01 GS 5SPD. Well the only question I have right now is does and EVO oil pan fit my block? I tried to drill an oil return and thread the bolts and it came out HORRIBLE!!! oil leaked alll the time. anyhow I would just like to get a oilpan that would bolt up, I doubt the srt-4 one will work, will a 2G/1G oilpan work?

wow, took me a lil while to read all those posts lol, anyhow I decided the ecuflash is great but I prefer the e-manage. also i'm going to use the pink 565c injectors from the WRX, now the one post says I may have to use spacers for the injectors, is that true if I don't use the evo rail?

There is only one way to find out. ;) The only reason I used the Evo Fuel rail is because I wanted to use the stock Evo 1:1 FPR.

Both the Pinks and the stock WRX Blues have the exact same dimensions, and are both 1/8" or so taller than the stock injectors, I would say that you will still have to use a couple of washers on top of the stock spacers. It's not a big deal at all though.

Also, just another suggestion to save money: Instead of buying the 565 Pinks for $300 or so, buy the stock WRX Blues (for $60 or so) and shave the end caps off to make them flow +700cc as was mentioned before. Interestingly enough, when the caps are shaved off of the Pinks, they flow the exact same as the Blues with the caps shaved off.

Good luck!

It seems that johnsgalant beat me to it. I was going to say, just go on www.clubwrx.net
(http://www.clubwrx.net/forums/showthread.php?t=156598&highlight=440cc)
...is just one i found, looks like slammedREX has some??

Also, check http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/

Should be able to find some between those two sites.
I really don't mind helping you guys out, but some members get tired of referring others to information that has been explained/pointed out repeatedly, and I fully understand their reasons of snide remarks because I just found the aforementioned links by searching.

And, johnsgalant, that is the biggest run-on I've seen to date.

looks like I will try and find an evo oilpan. evo 8 right?

Yes the evo VIII oil pan bolts up to the 4g64.
And, like johnsgalant stated it would be in you best interest to have at least a 2.5" custom dp made to eliminate any questions of restriction on your exhaust.

seems like neither of you have searched that much. Emanage is not stand alone, its a piggyback controller. best bet is to go with ecu flash, which will work on all 2002 and up 3g's and some but not all 2001's. but 2000's are SOL because a different processor was used. This is your best bet next to a standalone, which is your best option if you are wanting to run around 20 psi. It can be done with emanage but not very efficiently at all, as far as what i hear anyways.

I think that was directed to me, actually I have done EXTENSIVE searching, including looking though cloud's turbo project which took like 3hrs lol, I confused the Greddy E-Manage w/a standalone unit, I would prefer a stand alone as (from what I've heard) they require alot less maintenance.

u can get wrx injectors for pretty cheep on a subaru forum or on ebay... i went with 450cc blue top 1g injectors.. If u want to use those u have to use there clips and the injector resistor pack as they are low impedance. The evo pan will bolt up as everyone says and its tapped for the stock return fitting which i believe has the center piece and two small bolt holes on the sides of the flange.. If u tapped ur stock one just jbweld very well on the outsides of it and it should be straight as thats what i did and my oil is not leaking... I also use the emanage and its doing its job but i am not fully tuned for wot so i cant spec that much.. On ur specs tho u said a 2.25 downpipe?? the least u should use is 2.5 in all in every area.. Ur gonna need a custom downpipe from a skilled person in order to keep ur ac with the evo3 manifold and u need to bend the ac lines correctly to do that.. U will also probably need a slimline fan in front of the ac/turbo.. Oil inlet u can t from the back of the block where the oil pressure switch is all by itself.. u will need at least 40 or so in SS lines to reach from the rear to the front.. I suggest 48" and that will be just about there.. U r gonna need a bypass valve or bov and a recirculated intake -- u can get an ebay evo intake or something close to it but def recirculate.. The evo 8 ic piping atleast the cold side to the throttle body fits almost perfectly and is very useful.. The hot side can be used but u r gonna need some hot side custom piping if u wanna use the evo 8 pipes... they are hard pipes not that flabby rubbery eclipse piping.. I used a walbro from a 2g and i had to slightly modify the fuel pump assembly to fit it but supposedly a pump from the evo 8 will fit without too much trouble.. hope that helps.

thanks so much for the help, the reason I said a 2.25" downpipe was because of the ac line issue, looks like I will try and find an evo oilpan. evo 8 right?
I already have a 1G bov, just need to make a flange for it is all. for the oil, i think I'll just get a sandwich adapter for the oil filter housing, alot less hosing. I'll have to look at the ac lines, is there a downpipe pre-made to fit our engines ac?

does any one know a number or know which engine or something that i can associate with the injectors to help me determine the right ones? im finding lots of sti's, side feeds, and low impadence injectors but not the stock wrx turbos. im hoping to use the wrx injectors to avoid having to make a resistor pack for the dsm's.

Yes, sir. Those should work the same.

I also remember reading somewhere on www.clubwrx.net that the stock WRX injectors can be modified to flow over 700cc's. I will try to confirm that.

Edit: according to this link, stock WRX injectors can easily be modified to flow 740cc's (includes pics and How-To.) link --> http://www.teamscss.com/Subaru WRX...ctor Mod.htm (...man that is alot of cc's: that should be good to about 380chp @ 80% duty cycle...)

I should note that it is my understanding that STi injectors WILL NOT work. They are "side feed" and entirely different from the regular WRX injectors. I will also try to confirm this...

Edit: from what I have read, the STi injectors cannot be used, because WRX guys have to use the STi fuel rails when upgrading as well as the injectors...side feed = no good for us.

^That is from my $100 Fuel System Thread.
