Car Air Freshener?

For those that use any kind of air freshener for your car, I was wondering what you used and what you like or have tried and dont like. I sometimes use the pine tree things with the Drakkar scent. They are strong at first but only seem to last about a week, if that long. Especially in the spring/summer with the windows down, doesnt help it last that long. I know there are other kinds, such as types you can spray, put overtop the air vents, etc. Just wondered what you used and liked and would recommend. Has anyone tried putting a fabric softener sheet underneath the seat? If so, how well does that work and last? Thanks.

I prefer to use the pine tree shaped Vanilla scented air fresheners (disposable). I like to keep about 20 up on the rear view so each time you get in you can "feel" the scent instead of just smelling it. Plus on a hot day it causes mild hallucinations... ;)

Ok I have nothing else to do. Let's talk about air fresheners!!! I like those in the little can that have the top on them that you twist to open the little holes. You put those under both front seats and they last at least a month. Not quite as strong as the tree on the rear view, but not to weak. It's just barely noticable.

The fabric softener dryer sheets are what my wife uses in her car. Only she will use the whole box. At first she just partially opens the box and sets it on the back floor. After a couple of weeks, she will then tear open the rest of the box and get a couple more weeks out of them.

This is what I do as well.

My car smells like lavender all year around, I get compliments from most of my riders from the clean and nice smell.

I change the box whenever it gets cluttery*. (I keep it under my seat so people aren't like "wtf?")

*Cluttery = dryer sheets all over my side of the floor.

What I do and this might be a tip for everyone is:

1.Buy any freshener (tree shaped vanilla, or the fresheners that you put open andput under the seat )
2. Rip them in a medium pieces
3.take out the vents cover from the dashboard
4.Place the pieces inside the vents and put the vents cover back on

This way everytime your run heat/cool air/AC you will smell the scent of it.It also last a pretty good amount of time. Last freshener (one you out under the seat) lasted me for about 6 months !!!

No, I have the sport cloth, black. When I do vacuum the car, I do use carpet fresh on the floor mats and seats too, which helps also. Dont get me wrong, I dont have any bad smells or odors in the interior, just was curious to know if others have tried certain air fresheners that work well. They probably all last about the same, a week or so. Its all good.

HA! I used to do this all the time back in the day. I would only spray my cologne while in the car to both make me AND the car smell good.

Oh ya.. one more thing, if you chew gum, keep a pack of Orbit or something in the cup holder or somewhere open. It'll also give off a light natural fragrance of freshness.

Or if you like "big ones" you could sprinkle McDonalds fries in between the seats. That smell lasts atleast a year and they can pick up the scent from 2 lanes over. :hahano:

fabreeze works good too but it just elimates smells......but if ur really trying to get the stink outta ur car...these four steps are foul proof:
1. shower every morning before getting into ur car.
2. use a nice body wash in the shower + wash hair.
3. wear good cologne. hugo boss, lacoste, fierce.
4. ladies will come flawking from all over. :)

its the stink that stays on the weatherstripping of the side windows. You have to replace this strip on both side and clean that area, then it should be gone.

i just use those pine tree scents from time to time, and febreeze when routinely cleaning the carpet and cloth seats every month (* or so).

If you are a smoker, this combo works pretty good and last about 4 months. It makes it hard to decipher if the trees are losing scent or not as time goes on. Obviously, if your a non-smoker, than it will last alot longer as long as you keep the interior fairly clean, unlike a pig sty.

I keep a tree hanging in the back of the hatch as shown here. (It's been sitting there for about 3 months now)

And the Dixon spray air freshner (new car scent) I spray once on the hatch cover, once on the passenger side floorboard and thats it. Anymore than that your eyes may water.

I picked them both up at Advanced Auto parts. About $8 bucks total or so I believe.

i use to smoke "blunts in my car" and the best thing that works for me and "works in no lie 5-10 seconds" ozium that might not be the right name but i get in wal-marts car cleaning department, or bathroom cleaning supplies....but it works great and
FYI-for pot heads it works great when ur smoking a blunt and a cop is pulling u over lol

Another rep for Ozium^... From my previous post:

For those of you into the dryer sheets: You may want to try this spray called "Ozium". Comes in a white/blue spray can and can usually be found @ Advanced or any "head shop". Back in the day (way, waaaaaaaaayyyy back) my dorm buddies would use both to cover up the smell of smoke inside the FSU dorm rooms (sheets stuck in the AC vents and spray in case anyone came knocking). The Ozium IMMEDIATELY sucks any scent out of the air....
That stuff is no joke. Its instant "clean air" in a can. Good thing is that it doesn't mask airborne odors but kills them.

I just stopped at Advanced Auto to pickup some new Bosch Micro Edge Excel wiper blade replacements and ended up getting some of the pine tree fresheners. Got a scent called "Black Ice". Damn, that shit smells good! I normally get the "Drakar" scent, but cant find those lately. Black Ice smells damn good I must say. I also hung one on my drivers side rear seat area where the shirt hook thing is. I see the one guy who puts one on his cargo cover hatch thing, so even tho these things dont last more then a few weeks, since they're cheap, that should work good.
