Hello and thank you in advanced for any help,

2002 Eclipse GT Sportronic.
147,XXX miles on it

The problem I been having is that it randomely turns off, it does not happen often but usually just happens when I make a complete stop at a stop sign, when I accelerate a little bit it just turns off and I would have to put it in park and start it back again, I also noticed that sometimes when I turn it on, it does not sound very strong, it runs great but im worried this will effect it, i want to take it to a mechanic but before I blow money on a mechanic that wont help me that well i would like to hear you guys opinions.

also my dad use to work around cars a lot and he told me it might be that the engine might not be getting enough fuel at start up.

Edit: I tried starting my car today so I can leave only to find that it did not have enough power at all, like I tried pressing the gas and it would just turn off right after, any help please.

I know I was going down the expressway one day and it did this... Check all of your harnesses and make sure everything is in the right spot and TIGHT in there. Maybe a loose connection. If I can find my old thread people posted exactly where to find them all.

Thank Solar Klipse!

Check the alternator belt for tightness.
Check the connector and main 8 gauge wire going to the alternator for tightness.
Check the battery and harnesses in the battery, including the 120 amp fuse on the positive side.
Check the engine wiring harness connector below the drivers side dash up near the firewall... it should be white in color and its mounted on a small plastic piece.
Check the second engine wiring harness connector located below the radio under the center console plastic pieces... it should be white in color and have a gray "latching" mechanism on it. Make sure its tight.
Check the ETACS unit, (dashboard fuse panel), and all connectors going to it for tightness.
Check the main engine wiring harness ground going to the engine block. On a v6 its located on the drivers side below the water outlet/Thermostat. Not sure about I4s.
If you have a manual, check the connectors coming from the tranny... you have two sensors there... the vehicle speed sensor and the outputshaft sensor and they converge into one connector... make sure that connector is tight. Better yet, mke sure they are all tight.

Start there and let me know what you find. FYI this is not a blown fuse issue. If it were, your car would not have restarted... unless it was a voltage spike/short and it blew the 120 amp fuse for the alternator.

my battery died after it kept turning off and trying to turn it back on, after i got power from my dads car it turned on and stayed on, and i drove it for a while and it doesnt feel the same it stalls sometimes. im not exactly a car expert to check all of those things so i will ask my neighbor to check for me.
