so lets see. where to begin... its been a nice few years here on the club. this place was an invaluable source of information and ideas. some of which i applied, some of which i contributed myself.
but as of tuesday morning around 1am.. i am now no longer an eclipse owner
i was coming home from a girl friends house after a long night. had been drinking a little bit previously in the evening.. ate dinner, felt fine after a little while, and decided to drive home. i had work the next day and i was like 50 miles out of town, so i wanted to come home to have a close drive to work in the morning. i left at around 12:30.. and half way there is when it happened. i began dozing off a little bit. my eyes started to droop and i caught myself doing it twice at first. we know we've all done this before, lets be honest.. but it never gets to be THIS bad.. well at the third time or so that i closed my eyes i mustve let go of the wheel and drifted off to the right and then SLAM!! i run into this huge construction power generator with one of those big yellow electronic signs mounted onto it, about the size of a dumpster and probably weighing 1000+ lbs. i slammed into that on the front passengers side, music goes off, both airbags deploy, and my car bounces to the right and i go forward and down the hill/ditch about 20 feet thats on the side of the freeway.. eventually being stopped by a tree. car is totalled..
i was lucky that i was driving in the right lane, there was nobody else involved, i had no passengers, and i walked away fairly unharmed.. just minor cuts and bruises. the whole interior caved in on me about 8 inches or so, so i have 2 big bruises below my knees where the dash hit my legs. and what seem to be some minor sprains in my wrists from being jammed by the steering wheel. and somehow i have cuts underneath my chin.. but other than that i walked out ok. didnt need an ambulance or anything. i was also lucky because the CA highway patrol tried damn hard to get me for a DUI, but i blew below the legal limit. so thank the lucky stars i didnt get the DUI. all that came of it was the loss of my car.. which is bad enough though.

what really sucks is that the car was still in top operating condition and it still looked beautiful for being a 6+ year old daily driver. i loved this car. it looked as good as any other 3g i saw(imo) and ran just the same. no problems whatsoever. it served me great for those 6 years. couldnt have asked for more out of the car.. thats why its really such a shame that this happened. i dont even remember the mileage she had when i wrecked her
but i will try to part out what i can if anyone is interested in parts.. things like seats, the hatch, gas lid, etc.. depending on whether or not i can take some tools to the car when my insurance company gets possession of it. i dont intend on having it towed to my house only to be a stressfull reminder of what is probably the stupidest mistake ive ever made in life. i wouldve never, ever, imagine that something like this wouldve happened to me of all people. ive got all my shit together in life. no debts, no kids, great credit, nice place to live, everything youd want.. and i keep everything handled well.. but, i dont know.. i definitely screwed up here. but ive definitely learned my lesson. dont take things in life for granted, and make sure as all hell you stay the fuck awake on the road.
dont let it happen to you.
