Hi guys,
Last night me and my friend were installing his new KYB shocks and springs. I felt the car after all was put on and It was stiff LIke CRAZY! I asked a guy that know a lot around here about suspension and he was telling me that the Tein Basic coilovers will not be as stiff as the KYB and springs. Can anyone tell me how stiff there's is and which is stiffer in you guys opinion?

Thanks,
Mike

Right, thats what I thought however this guy I talked to when I asked him he said that the Tein Basic Coilovers would be no where close as stiff as the KYB and H&R springs were on my friends 3g. The car did not even move up and down and had absolutely no body roll. I was just hoping perhaps Tein Coilovers would be as stiff or stiffer than that because that is exactly how stiff i want it. So you say that the Basic Damper kit is stiffer??

As Phil said, the Basic Coilovers have a much higher spring rate than a standard lowering spring. If you have not ridden in a car with coilovers, you have no idea what stiff is yet. :scared:

Awsome, well then I hope when I buy my Tein Basic Dampers that it will be stiff. 18's will make most of the wheel gap go with these coilovers right? I have seen some just dont wanna get rub.

If you have KYB's and Springs, and 18" wheels or bigger, I highly suggest NOT setting at 4. Go 2 front, 3 rear, or even 1 front, 2 rear depending on your fender clearance and road conditions.

The only time I would ever set mine at 4 is if I did drags, in which I would have 1 front, and 4 on rear to prevent rear roll to keep the front tires on the ground.

Just my advice...

well right now i have just the sportline springs, on the stock shocks, so if i got the KYB AGX's, I would notice a big difference in stiffness? because right now my car is bouncy as hell. I just want it as stiff as possible.
the ride with that will suck A LOT, due to the fact that the stock struts/shocks are not designed to handle lowering springs.

With the KYB's you will get a stiffer ride, I still notice some body roll, but you cant eliminate it all. If you really have questions on how something will feel or will look, go to a car meet and see how the other guys have their cars set up, and ask for a ride.
