The Ultima Factory has for the third consecutive year smashed the world record for sprinting to 100mph and back to zero again in the all conquering, multiple-world-record-holding 200mph Ultima GTR supercar. Driven by Ultima Director, Richard Marlow, the British built and designed Ultima GTR road car set a new world record time of a staggering 9.4 secs for the 0-100mph-0 sprint. The GTR scorched from 0-60mph in 2.6 secs, 0-100mph in 5.3 secs and braked to zero from 100mph in a mind blowing 3.6 secs, which are all in themselves road car world record times.

The Ultima GTR used for the successful record attempt was the factory’s standard production specification Ultima GTR640 demonstrator, which has recently been upgraded with a 720bhp Chevrolet V8 engine, and hence now known as the Ultima GTR720. The GTR720 was fully road legal, road tyred and equipped with a standard 5 speed G50 transmission and a standard production engine option from Ultima’s official OE engine suppliers American Speed. No traction control devices or ABS braking aids were used.

Richard Marlow commented, “We always knew that the Ultima was more than capable of achieving performance figures of this caliber. There is no other supercar in history which can match the pace of the Ultima GTR in this discipline. Furthermore the GTR720 is available at a fraction of the price of all other supercars and is also fantastic to drive at more sedate road speeds with its road friendly engine. It is currently being used as my daily driver in all weather conditions. I expect with these latest officially verified world records for the Ultima GTR to retain its title for a long time into the future as the fastest accelerating and decelerating supercar of all time. Along with all of our other previous world records we have achieved over the past couple of years, this is a superb showcase to officially demonstrate to the world just what the Ultima is capable of achieving and we have gained unprecedented worldwide automotive recognition and respect for our marque in the process”.

Ted Marlow commented, “Quite frankly the Ultima has opened up a new league of road car performance with these new independently verified figures. The Ultima GTR with its superior power to weight ratio is now over two seconds quicker from 0-100mph-0 than the £750,000 McLaren F1 LM, and over one and a half seconds quicker than the £450,000 Ferrari Enzo. What’s more the GTR720 performed these world beating statistics consistently and reliably time after time. The mind boggling 30-70mph time of just 1.8 seconds is further proof that the Ultima is so far ahead of any other car in terms of outright performance.”

This new catalogue of Ultima world records was once again strictly conducted, overseen and verified by an official from “Datron Technology” who are acknowledged by the Guinness Book of Records and the motoring press as official timekeepers. The use of their official Microsat GPS timing equipment which is based on incorruptible data provides irrefutable proof of the astonishing Ultima times. The Ultima GTR720 used for these records which is a company demonstrator was driven to and from the test venue.

Well, they did it again.

IS THIS THE ULTIMATE ULTIMA?

1600bhp enough for you?

Even in the wide-open spaces of the land of the free we reckon you’d require exceptional bravery to tame the mad Maxximus G-Force. It has just entered the record books as the fastest ‘street-legal’ car in the world.

OK, we know the Americans have a relaxed view on what street-legal means, and the times haven’t been certified by the Guinness Book of Records but an outfit we’ve never heard of called The World Records Academy. Still, the claimed numbers are impressive – the Maxximus allegedly knocks off 0-60mph in just 2.1secs, 0-100 in 4.5secs, and has a 0-100-0mph time of 8.9secs.

A top speed hasn’t been released - perhaps the makers are saving that for the car’s official debut at Dubai’s Big Boys Toys show next month - but those acceleration figures would certainly see off a Veyron on the drag strip. The Bug’ needs 2.46secs to reach 60mph and a whole second more to clock 0-100-0.

Although the Maxximus hails from Indiana, it is basically an Ultima GTR 720 that has been modded so the chassis will accept a 7.0litre twin turbo V8 with a paddle-shifted three-speed auto ’box developed for the drag racing fraternity. The makers couldn’t find a manual box that would handle the Chevy V8’s claimed 1600bhp – so the Maxximus gets a first gear that’s good for 80mph.

Apparently the Maxximus will have a seven-figure price tag when it’s unveiled in Dubai. Crikey.

was the buggati tested? i know it has a top speed of 256 what's this 1's top speed?

Who cares what the top speed is? Who cares if you can drive 256MPH, where are you going to do that in America regularly, in your neighborhood?

Now, about the Bugatti. Read. Absorb. Think.

Ultima GTR sets 1/4 mile world record

The Ultima Factory has recorded yet another blistering statistic with the multiple world record holding Ultima GTR supercar. Driven by Ultima director, Richard Marlow, the GTR recorded a standing 1/4 mile time of 9.9secs @ 143mph terminal speed at the FIA approved and verified Santa Pod Raceway. Previously, we reported that the 720 hp Ultima GTR had set a record for the 0-100mph-0 run. The GTR720 was pitched against a standard 345bhp Corvette C5, which doubled as a camera car to help demonstrate the mind-boggling performance of the GTR720.

I agree the GT-R looks goofy as hell, but the other car they make, the CAN-AM is like the Spyder version of the GT-R that I think looks much better IMHO:

here's the USA version of the Can-AM with the higher wind screen:

Can-Am FTW!

This is one of the few cars you can build yourself from scratch.
