Who Will Never Sell Their 3G?

I've had my 3G since it was my first car back in 2006, the car holds a lot of sentimental value to me and although its not my daily, I love taking it out on the weekends to just cruise down the highway. I dont think its of enough value for me to sell it at this point, and I don't plan on ever selling it. Is there anyone else that plans on hanging onto their 3G for the long run? I've thought about what the 3G community would look like 20 or 30 years down the road.

I dont think ill ever part with mine unless sometime unforeseeable happens(knock on wood). I wanted to try selling it a while back, but decided against it and spent some money on it instead and im really happy with it. I plan on garaging it for the winter next year and picking up a beater to help keep her clean.

I know ill never see a dime of what i put into it this point forward, so i may as well go all out haha.

probably never sell it. Like some have already stated, it isn't worth much. It's worth more to me than the money i'd get for it. I just put a new top on it this year. Down here in the desert, cars last forever. Just had the front brake calipers off a week ago and I was amazed that the caliper bolts still look brand new. I'm the original owner, bought it new in November of '03. It's my daily driver, but not my only car. I tend to keep most all of my cars. they are my toys.

My Spyder is up over 150K miles now, but judging from what others here have stated their mileage to be, I expect no less than 300K miles before any major engine work may be needed. If I keep it maintained and no one bashes into it, it'll probably outlast me. In my opinion, it's always cheaper to fix any car than to start making car payments again.

I'll sell it when i have to, not because i need to. Im almost 26, nose deep in student loan debt, and unable to afford a new car amidst saving up for am engagement ring and living the adult life.

When its time to upgrade to something with more space is the only reason i imagine having to part ways.

One thing I've learned over the years, some of the old cars I had when i was younger, I wish I had put more of a value on and kept them. One car in particular I still miss to this very day. So now I tend to hold onto them. They do become more valuable when they get older. Even if I loose interest in them for a while, It doesn't mean it will always be that way.

My Eclipse has been a really good car and i've enjoyed working on it. Compared to newer cars, it is much simpler and easier to work on. No "throttle by wire", TPMS or GDI. All things that will be much more expensive to fix down the road than my simple cable driven throttle and MFI on the eclipse. Just some of the things I think about these days.

Plan to keep mine a while. Although I tend to keep everything I have thats worth a damn a while. Wife's van is 1 oil change from 300k. I agree with RC, though more complicated tha a 70 Dodge Dart to work on, far better than new cars. These are well engineered cars that are proven reliable when well maintained. After salt disintigrates all the GLR cars, we will be sitting on gold mines down here.;)

Quiet you with that damn salt word.

My car has been in multiple accidents, got flooded, it is the victim of all my attempts to play "Mechanic" and still runs! the car refuses to die :happysad: with more than 150k on the odometer it is still running strong.

right now since the car is pretty beaten up and is no longer my daily I am working on refurbish it. trying to give it a new life and it is now a "never-ending" project.

I have been asked multiple times to sell the car but I just cant sell it. as many of you said you cannot put a price on the sentimental value of the car. some of the saddest and happiest moments of my life up to this point have been in that car even I honestly don't think I would sell the car EVER!

Right now I don't have a reason to sell it. I've had it for 13 years. Except for needing new suspension, it runs great. I also have a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder, and the wifey has a 1991 Civic. My 3G is now my beater.

The reason i plan not to sell mine is because 1.)at 85,000 miles...Mitsubishi installed a brand new AT under warranty my extended 100,000 mile warranty,i was laid off in 2009 and for 2 years had no job, almost lost the car with 2,800 left to pay off back then...tons of my friends have got driver licences after passing their tests in this 3G GTS :) etc etc

basically no one can give me the True Value of the car...but most importantly...it's never let me down...brand new parts are soooo cheap on Rock Auto compared to my BMW pals lol.

Ride or Die...135,000 and going strong...Tranny pretty much has 50,000 miles on it :)

even my Wife said we've been thru so much with it to sell it...i met her while i had this ride :) Not selling...we're adding a QX60(known as FX35 before) and we're good...this is my 2nd Eclipse/car...first was a 1998...so 2 cars in all this time, all Mitsu

I have almost 10 grand into my car with repairs and I got it for 3k. Bought a fantastic rust bucket so to say and I love it. Have big plans for this thing once I finish school and have no desire to sell it. Eventually this thing will be full out race car with awd and a boosted 6g75, repairs and maintenance are first and then the performance will come :)
Catch me tearing the streets up in arizona in a couple of years!!

considering the amount of money, time, and blood into this car id rather burn it to the ground and piss on it than sell it at this point lol. so with that said it will turn into my weekend fun car once i get a new daily when that time comes.

I bought mine new in 2000, 2.4L, manual trans. Still stock, 110K miles. No rust (a major feat here in Nebraska). I probably put about 5K miles on it a year these days, take a trip to KC or Denver now and then. I have no inclination to sell it as I have other vehicles to use up instead.
