This if for my brothers 6g72.

He can drive the car normally, and then try to start it right after that and it doesnt start.

Then like 3-4 hours later he can come back and try it and it starts.

This happened 2wice now that his car has not started, anyone know what it could be?

hmmm lets see i just fixed a similiar problems on my friends truck, first troubleshoot it the best you can, we came up with either the battery, alternator, starter or clogged injector. after replacing the battery and alternator we ran some injector cleaner through the engine and it fixed the problem temporary until we went and ordered a new injector. hope this helps

it could be that his battery isnt supplying enough amperage under load.

can you be more specific about how its cranking when he trys to start it? is it a slow cranking, just a click, or what?

get your hands on a digital multi meter and you can nail the problem down.

15 seconds of cranking, the battery voltage should stay above 7.5 volts. if its dipping below that then the battery is bad and isnt supplying enough power when under load. the reason its ok a few hours later is because the chemical reaction has caught back up and built a suffeicent charge. how old is the battery? check the cells with a hydrometer, they should all be within .5 of each other and all around 1.15 or better.

this sounds like the exact same problem a class mate had today (if its slow cranking), but his problem wasnt the battery since we tried jumping his car. it seems more like his starter was taking a shit on him or he has a really bad connection somewhere, as his problem is intermittent too. i'd like to know how it turns out so post up the result.
