pretty much, I run Potenzas RE910's for that reason (I know they don't make them anymore). Good dry traction, good wet traction. I've heard they weren't good in the snow, but I wouldn't know, it doesn't snow here.
 
professionals can run tires that are sweet in the rain (f1 guys) .. aren't there tires specifically made for rain? :D
 
the width of the tire can cause problems too. a wider tire can be more susceptable to this than a narrower one.

regardless, slow down.
 
those f1 tires are pretty damn wide...
