Trying to find a good lasting product to clean my rims with. Right now I use a light degreaser that cleans them up nice and then I use the black magic sealant thats supposed to prevent brake dust buildup etc... But it seems with 2 days their coated again. I know theres got to be something that does a better job.

No matter what you do the brake dust will stick to your rims, it's made from a compound that's designed to make your car stop by friction therefore it will stick to the wheels. As bitter said just wax and rinse them often.

has anyone tried teflon wax? i'd imagine it'd work better than a carnuba wax but does anyone actually know?

Get ceramic brake pads, they have about only 5% of normal brake dust. Also ceramic coated rotors. But myself i was the whole car with dish washing liqued.

Washing your car with dish washing liquid is not the greatest idea. Dish washing liquid will remove the wax from your car.
We have been in the custom car painting business for 15 years now, and wax hurts paint jobs in the long run, and the products that people go out and buy are just a waste of money. It dont matter and in the 10 years that I myself have been washing cars, I have never had one single problem.

You really should let 60 Minutes, or Primetime know that all of the people that wax their cars are actually hurting their paint. Think of the money people will save, never mind not having sore arms the next day from polishing.

Just when you think you have heard it all.....

So have I, and personally I think that's a ridiculous comment. Washing it with dish soap is good for a deep cleaner, but you need to follow it immediately with a wax. If you choose to use dish soap, that's our business--but I hope you don't recommend that to anyone else, and especially not your own customers.

:agreed: he did say he was in the custom car painting business. maybe he wants the people to come back for new paint jobs sooner? you can cars that have been waxed their whole lifetime because the paint is in much better condition.
