This is my 2001 RS-Turbo. I wasn’t going to make this thread until the car was finished to where I want it but if that is to be the case then I would never be ready. So nevertheless, here she is. I bought it back in early 2010 with 82k on the clock. I have always wanted a third gen Eclipse since they came out when I was ten years old, but after getting one I was disappointed in the “performance” of the stock machine. Now I’m stuck playing this modding game. Here is how she sits now, and instead of making build threads in the very near future, I plan to document and chronicle everything in this Member’s Ride thread.

And just for shits here are some videos. No they don't show its true potential but that isn't the point. I love the sound of my 3G.

I'm terrible at taking pictures and that is a skill I'd like to polish. I'll post up some pictures of the progress that has been made to get it to where it is today. Stay tuned for the near future :ninja2:

Thanks Christian. I wish "I R boost" though.

And I know haha. I have been telling myself to make a MR thread but never had the balls. Too many 3Gs that are so much sicker than mine. But oh well

Thanks man! That is one thing I would like to touch up though. The valve cover and caps were all engine enameled black shortly after I purchased the car, and the heat cycling of doing pulls for tuning really aged the adhesion fast, so some of it is starting to chip or flake off. Same with the VHT on my exhaust manifold and O2 housing.

Finally you made a thread! Looking good.

Like I said in one of the other threads....I may know what your next step is! :ninja2:
I figured it was way past time :blush2:.

You definitely have an idea, but you haven't a hint at the scale of the build. ;)

:yesway::yesway:
Thanks Joel. By the way, I've been in correspondence with Black Cat Customs for a while now and finally we agreed it would just be easier for me to send them my 3Gb gauge faces so that they could imitate them. I'm stoked, they've been awesome with customer service so far! Thanks again for their recommendation, I completely wrote them off when I first saw their website. I thought they could only make revisions to the faces they already have.

Tav nothing gets by you, does it? Haha you spotted the turbo setup without even looking down into the engine bay from the picture on Facebook. Yes I changed it after and the flanged adapter pipe is raw metal in color. I didn't have time to paint it just wanted rid of the RFL so I threw it on there. It doesn't look pretty but it's much more mannered between shifts now.

haha i pay attention to details on peoples build especially FI builds. Nice choice on the tial bov. I have one as well but i had to convert to the qr and recirculate it because it was opening and closing at random on my sds. I tried so many springs to come to the conclusion that it needed to recirculated for a supercharger set up with that special supercharger spring

Yeah I'm actually have somewhat of a similar issue with mine. I bought it with the -11PSI spring and my engine pulled it open like nobody's business so my car wouldn't even idle. I put a washer in there to shim it and then it started surging like a mofo and wouldn't vent below 10PSI of boost. Then I bought the -12PSI spring (for $35 I might add -_-) and it wouldn't vent at all.

So I sent that back and ordered a -10PSI spring which I'm going to try shimming. Ironically though, in the meantime I put the -11PSI spring and shim back in and it now vents around 4-5PSI.

Yea i think i have almost every spring trying to figure that bov out. Ill convert back to VTA if i go speed density maybe. The only thing that sucks about VTA with the -3psi spring its fully open at idle and cruise. You already know how loud the bov is when it opens. So imagine hearing that 24/7. It does turn heads though haha

Im going have to look into those prosport gauges.

I love the gauges, though I do have some complaints and for that reason if I were to ever remove them I would probably end up replacing them. I love the fact that it has a digital display as well as an analog bar, and that they do the Pontiac sweep when you start the car...

HOWEVER,

they are too advanced for their own good. Instead of making them just regular display, they are plasma/LCD and so I have to move my head down to view my water temperature gauge at the bottom of the triple pillar. And also due to their make, they all three appear to be a different shade of blue - despite them being exact. It's like looking at a computer screen at an angle, it changes the color/distorts the contrast. Sucks. But they look neat if viewed correctly haha.

Very clean, I like.
Appreciate it man. I am in the process of updating some more pictures.

I'm also in the process of converting to the 3Gb front bumper. I'm getting another intercooler though and I'm not quite set on it yet, so I have to choose that first. Since these parts are silver, I'd rather measure twice, cut once and paint once. I also have GT side skirts and new fenders. If you look closely you can see little dents in my fenders where my lambo doors hit them. Since removing the lambo doors I tried to straighten them out but I just creased them a bit further so I let them alone.

Thanks bro! That means a lot. Your 3G is one of my favorites on here.

I love my prosport gauges. They work and look great.

I can't believe you guys are having issues with your blow off valves still. You shouldn't need a spring rated for PSI unless you're having a lot of pressure drop between the blow off valve location and your vacuum tap. I've got the Greddy RS with the single spring mod (very flimsy spring), opens at 2 psi let off and stays shut all the way up to 20 pounds at least.
The Tial Q BOV springs are rated for negative PSI, which is referring to engine vacuum, not actual boost pressure. They should have rated them based upon mmHg but they didn't, though most places you buy from (STM, ExtremePSI, etc.) already have them converted for you. Still though, I refer to them by their proper names given to them by Tial.

I WILL get it figured out. It's just been slapping me across the face for a while.

Yeah I've heard it being recirculated into a 4" aluminum intake on my buddy's 1G DSM and it was honestly just as loud as mine is currently. Though mine isn't opening correctly. I want mine to sound like this:

I'm tapped off a vacuum manifold which is tapped off the brake booster line. Vacuum source is solid, it's just a matter of finding the correct spring combination that works best.

Welcome to the boosted club:bigndance:
Thanks bro. Been boosted for a whole though, just never made an MR thread. My build thread has been up though.

That's wicked. I'm glad to see it finally coming together (and you actually making a thread for it) :)
Thanks Steve!
