Has anyone ever thought about cutting your roof?

I've been pondering how the eclipse would look with a pop top like the corvettes....I can't photoshop, don't have the program, so the only thing I can do is imagine it. I think it would look pretty cool...

I'm sure a bunch of people have thought about this, I know I have. I think cost wise it would be alot unless you have the skills to weld and paint. Also, access to a plasma saw would be ideal. Unfortunatly, I speak for my self here and probably alot of other members when I say I seriously lack the confidence to try that myself. Would definitly make for an awsome looking 3G.

it's been talked about often in the past, and everything that has been said here is pretty much the conclusion that's always been made...I don't know who the hell would be willing to spend the money for a proper targa roof on this car, and even if they did, it would look like shit anyway.

For what its worth, there is a guy on the 3SI forums that rebuilt a 3KGT from virtually its frame and incorporated a targa roof in the process. It looks fantastic (I can post pictures if anyone hasn't seen it), but it's also a completely different animal compared to the turd gen Eclipse.

I have always been a fan of the "T" tops on a Trans am, but them are the only car I think it looks good on.... Other than the targa on the Supra.

actually you could pull this off basically keeping the back glass in the car.
you can get the trunk lid itself to fold up with shocks while the glass stays in the car so you can access the trunk. i dont think it would be that hard. you wont need that extra with the right modded car it would look good.

if anyone seriously wanted to do this it would be easier to start with a spyder. that way you have a working trunk already, and the car is made to not have a roof. then graft in the rear glass and wings from a hardtop. it would still not look good though, IMO.
