I got my car in October, and after the first snow, whenever i have my heater on, there is a loud squealing noise. I've determined that it's the serpentine belt. I bought some belt spray, which did not solve the problem. My dad says the belt felt kinda loose. How do I tighten the belt? I'm taking it to the dealer on Wednesday to just have them look at it. I'd prefer not to pay $100+ to have them tighten a bolt.

I don't but I bet the online Field Service Manual does.

I figured it out, was easy as hell. First i took it to the dealer, and they wanted $40 bucks just to look at it!!!!!!!!!!! I told them, since i'm 90% sure of what it is, I'm leaving. So I went to my uncles who rebuilt a whole transam and I used his tools to tighten the bolt.

I just can't get over the fact the dealer wanted $40 to look at it, when all it needed was a few turns of the wrench

What you have to consider is that their tech still has to get paid to do the work, the service writer has to take the time to log the work, not to mention the paper/ink for the work order you have to sign, the cashier who collects your money, etc. For liability reasons, they can't just let anyone with a quick fix come in just to have a bolt tightened. Just think what would happen if the bolt stripped out, the belt broke because it hadn't been replaced in 300,000 miles, or some obsure problem surfaced...they have to look out for #1.

Glad you got it taken care of though...:bigthumb:
