Got in my car today and turned right out of my apartment, blinker is on warp speed. So figured I have a indicator light out. Stop at the auto parts store, turn on my flashers... all of them are flashing.

I do have a right FOG light out, apparently, but I don't see why this would effect the turn signals in any way. The turn signal on the passenger side does seem dimmer than the one on the driver's.

When I first turn the car on and put on my right indicator, it blinks normally for 2 or 3 clicks and then starts going fast. It remains fast until I turn the car off/on again and then does the same thing.

Help? Why can't it ever be the simple, cheap solution. Really tired of this car having issues every other week. It's an 02 GT 5-speed, if that matters.

Replace the bulbs, if you're tired of things breaking might be time to sell the eclipse lol. We all have things break every other day it seems like. Just part of owning an eclipse. But as far as your problem, the filament could easily be slightly burned, or barely making contact. Replace the cheapest part first. Bulb. Or swap your turn signal bulbs and see if it does it on the other side. That would tell you it's the bulb going out.

Probably a bulb contact issue, check the bulb socket and base for bridging due to corossion or the lead contacts spread, I don't remember if these things take wedge base or bayonet base but the dual contact bayonet bases tend to slowly spread the lead contacts until they bridge the high and low filaments and cause all kinds of weird problems.

If I remember correctly they are 194 bulbs. I'll have to check mine when I get home. But I did pull the bumper off a couple weeks ago to do my condenser and they were 194's as far as I know. You could try sliding some sandpaper into the wedge base? see if that helps. Also check the solder points and wiring coming out of the base and going into the loom

They are 1157 bulbs, and it didn't fix the problem. Put the new bulb in, still dim on passenger side, still blinking very fast. Rear bulb looks fine, bright on both sides.

Could it be the fog light bulb being out? I don't see how it could, since most of the time fogs aren't even on.

Or, conversely, anything that would effect both the blinker and the foglight? I know the fog was working as far as last week sometime, only noticed it was off when I checked all the lights for the blinker. And it's on the same side.

I'm thinking it's resistance related too. Might explain why after a few normal blinks (enough time to warm up a touch) it goes into the fast mode thinking a bulb is out. Would focus on the dim bulb and anything related to it. Pretty much what Bitter said. Makes the most sense.

Unless they share a ground, but then I'd expect both filaments in the bulb to be out since that's a 3 wire socket.

Ok, some other things I noticed now that it's dark out and I can see the lights better:

With just the running lights on, the lights seem fairly equal, with the driver's side being brighter than the passenger side.

When I put the hazard lights on, the backs flash in unison. The front ones flash in alternate. Also, whereas the driver side 'pulses' (goes from 'on' to 'brighter' on each flash), the passenger side goes completely dark between flashes. I have the old bulb back in there right now.

The passenger side foglight is completely out. I will swap the bulbs in the fogs tomorrow to see if that is just a bulb issue (forgot to get an extra at the store).

I took some pictures/videos if that would help, I can upload them if you'd like.

I saw this once before on another 3G ages ago, I think the wiring was smashed somewhere and was shorting between the high and low brightness filaments in the bulb.

Fantastic. That doesn't sound cheap to fix. Also, I have no idea what would ruin the wiring, though we did have some fairly heavy rain the day before this started. The day it was raining was also the day I got the random 'Cylinder 2 misfire' code, which hasn't come back.

yep, sounds like some damaged wiring. Accidents, mice, just rubbed through on something, etc.

Pulsing, yeah I agree with bitter, sounds like a shorting issue. No you wouldn't need to bring it to a mechanic. Take a few hours and trace the wiring back. It's honestly not that hard to follow. Cut the loom as you go or just look for smashed or broken spots. Might cost a couple dollars in new electrical tape and loom once you're done but it's not hard to figure out honestly. Or the socket is internally shorted (not likely, but always a possibility)
