My girlfriend's Eclipse came with some Chrome GT Rims (its a 2001). I was wondering if this is a factory option, or if possibly the dealer had them chromed seeing as this thing was their demo car.

The problem with them is that the chrome has begun to flake off pretty bad. I have had chrome rims (and various other parts) on several other cars, and ive never had so much trouble with them before. I polish these at least once a week with chrome polish. Nothing really seems to help, and the chrome just keeps flaking in the crevaces of the wheels. It simply looks to me like a crappy chrome job.
