I chose the E30 because growing up as a kid in Germany it was my dream car. I still think it is the best looking model that BMW has produced ever. Here are some pictures of the project, keep in mind that i only paid $650 for it and it runs. In these pictures I have already stripped a lot of panels/molding/lights etc for paint. Slight of change of plans though as I will reassemble the car until Mid December when it will be getting painted.

It will be getting painted alpine white or black.

Plans for the Car :
New Suspension- Lowering
New Wheels - Picked up a set of mint te37s for it
Paint (Alpine White or Schwartz Black not sure yet)
885 head to make the motor a 2.7i (High revving 2.7L I6)
Turbocharger setup

CHANGE OF PLANS

Bought a 95 M3 Parts Car with a S50 in it.
I will be swapping the motor/tranny/steering rack into the e30

Here are some of my Dad's 91 318i that we have done a whole lot of work on already. All it really needs is the hood repainted.

Dad's Car-
Almost everything on the car is functional and working and all maintenance is done including all new gaskets in the motor. Mine is being built for performance while his is more of a nice to look at cruiser.

I have cleaned much of the car up including the bay. I will get pictures of how it sits now when I get a chance.

Here are the wheels I will be running on the E30. Only flaw is that the stickers are peeling. There is literally no rash on the wheels. 17x7.5 offset 40. I will probably run 15-20 mm spacers. I'll see after I test fit them. I won't be going for slammed, the gap will be similar to my Eclipse.

Parts are dirt cheap and can be found almost anywhere. I'm excited to have RWD finally.

Wow.... Nice pickup man. I really want to see your progress.
Thanks. Progress will be noticeable especially when the 3G gets parted/sold :yesway:

I hope so :ndance:

For Auto-X, certainly.
They hold their own on track as well. I will definitely be tracking the car once its ready.

Love the car! I have been looking at all sorts of BMWs lately. I find myself becoming more and more attracted to them. I can't wait to see how this turns out!
I can't wait either :)

Definitely have to agree with you on being the best looking. My dad had one back in Cali, man I loved that thing so much, to bad we sold it before we moved :(
Yeah man. I can't wait until I get some of the real work done.

Beautiful car! Man, this makes me want to pick up a project car.
Do it :agreed:

Cleaned one of the wheels up with dawn dish soap + water and removed whats left of the stickers on that wheel. :yum:

Also got Late Model Plastic Bumper on in the front

The rear needs modification so I'm waiting on mounting hardware so I can start modifying it.

Image

Also Found the fuel pump acces unbolted, so I'm going to remove the pump to see what the P/O was doing/trying to do.

Vacuumed the interior finally. Front seats have two tears in them but its not that bad.

Also hit the bay with a little more degreaser .

Removed the rear windows to check for rust. Also can't decide on popouts or fixed windows in the rear. I have both.

I have another set of TE37 stickers (authentic), if you are interested. Just pay for shipping, and they are yours.

Not a problem. I meant to put them on a set of wheels that I had, but I sold them. I completely forgot about them.

Here's a picture of the front with the headlight grills on. They will be replaced with euro ones once the car gets painted. Have too much maintenance to do right now.

Also, here is what I pulled from the yard today.

Here is what I pulled today. All for $159
Head with full valve-train
Throttle Body
Intake box with AFM
325IS ECU (173)
iFPR, Fuel Rail, and Injectors
Thermostat Housing/ w thermostat
Fan and Water Pump also their pulleys as well as the crankshaft pulley.
IS Lip Spoiler for my dads E30
Wires
Coolant Overflow from an IS
Bunch of Misc stuff.

The timing belt was still on the car so it wasn't snapped. Pistons weren't damaged and valves look good. The car did seem like it overheated but the head seems straight. I will at minimum be replacing all the seals and have it pressure tested at the machine shop and checked to make sure that its true.

It always is lol. I have like 3-4 of those large storage totes full of 3G parts. Another one full of parts for my dads 318i and now two tabletops and more for mine lol.

Trying to decide on a suspension setup for this thing. Might get some cheap coilovers for the time and upgrade it once all the maintenance and paint is done. Don't want to run 4x4 status with te37s lol.

Haha cheap shit. I will probably be going with Lowtecs suspension package or Bilstein with H&R Race springs. 60MM drop up front and 50MM in the rear for the lowtecs which should last longer than the bilsteins as the shocks/struts are valve matched to their springs. Not stanced but nice and low like my eclipse was.

Here's an early model like mine on the same springs. Those are 15's with 195/55 tires. Mine is 17 with 205's currently. Next set of tires will probably be 225's.
