No offense dude...but you can't call this the "official" 2009 LI BBQ meet. We were doing this long before you joined... It's cool that you want to set something up; more power to you. But, it's not the "official" meet until we set a date.

I know how you Long Islander's are about your precious Annual LI meets, so I came in and made the change before I heard any of yer' bitching.

Mister_Bishi, like the others have already mentioned, we do have an Official Annual Club3G meet every year on Memorial Day weekend. Of course, that doesn't mean we can't have any other meets in or around the area! I've just changed the title as to not confuse the usual attendees of our actual annual meet.

Props on setting this up, though! I plan on making both meets.

Got my NYC work days: Aug 3rd - 5th. Hmmm... If they'll reimburse for gas if I drive vs fly, then I'll be heading to this. If not, then I can't make it. I gotta see if they'll approve.

 

Boss approved the gas reimburse so I could drive and stay for this event, but then he didn't approve me taking off the 6-7th to actually make the drive worth while. Sucks. So I won't be making it to this meet as I'll be flying up on the company dime.

 

Is there an easy way to get there by train? I don't want to drive into the city

 

The meet is it Captree State Park which is about 1hr east of NYC on Long Island. You can take a train to Long Island but the train wont get you close enough to the meet, still probably about 15-20 minutes away from the train station to the meet. You dont have to drive thru Manhattan to get there from NJ, you can either come over the Verrazano, to the Belt Pkwy to the Southern State Pkwy or the George Washington Bridge, to the Throggs Neck Bridge, to the LI Expwy and go that way.
