Ok... well here it goes.

A few of my old classmates from my hometown were gona be coming in, so i decided i was going to go visit them too. Well my home town is about 3.5 hours from where i live. I made it there last night and just hung out with friends. Well tonight was the same ordeal. I was on my way out to the country club (this town only has the population of 3000) to meet some of my buds. Im a lil excited, and my friend is riding with me to go meet them. Anyways, i admit i was speeding a little, nothing like crazy, but a little, and it was real dark since it was in the country. I know... stupid me. But anyways i was going along with my low beams on (since they reach out further to the left and right, to make sure i dont hit deer) and i saw the beady lil eyes jump out of the brush on the left of the road... He jumps in the middle of the road, and i start to firmly pushing(not locking) the brakes and making my way to the left side of the road, trying to avoid it hoping the deer would keep running to the other side of the road. Well... it didnt. Its stupid ass stooped right in the middle and had to look at me before thinking, hey i should run away from the 3000lb car coming right at me.

*thoughts* Fuck... im not going to miss it... o well, stay on the road, and keep us from flipping.

Anyways, i knew i was going to hit it, and clipped it going about 55mph on the right of my front bumper. I remanded in control and keep a rather straight path and pulled over immediately. Killed the car, called for help. About 20 people came to my rescue and got it towed back to a close friends garage, were it will sit for now.

I got a very good friend of mine that is going to loan me his 3g so i can go back to my home so i can continue to work and go to school till i get this taken care of.

We went back and found the dear, looks like it used to be a pretty damn big 8 point buck, well its only 4 point now. We got a video of it below.

The bumper is... well gone almost. Hood is totally bent like a pretzel. Right fender is a lil scuffed too. Radiator is FUBAR'd, but the engine looks like it made it out fine. All of my fluid holder on the right of the engine bay are torn. Right sonar/smoked lens and fog are gone. CAI kinda fell apart and got scuffed. Looks like the subframe is a little bent... Frame looks ok... god i hope it aint totaled, i really hope so.

the 3g...

That video was great to wake up to this morning. Its funny as hell how you guys taunt the deer. Best Quotes: “That’s what you get when you fuck with an eclipse” & “HA HA his tongue’s green.”

bty, the car looks bad. but thank god your okay after a hit like that. things could have turned out a lot worse than they did, be thankful that it didnt.

Airbags will only deploy if you hit 2 out of the 3 sensors in the front. I can't see the picks at work, but it seems like you clipped just one of the sensors.

And for the non-country folk, late October through November is mating season. Deer come out of nowhere. At least that is how it is in northern Illinois. I always drive slower down 2 lane roads when the corn is still up. And always use high beams.

only 'speeding a little' and applying the brakes for atleast 100ft lightly means you must have been doing ATLEAST 75-80mph to clip that deer at ~55.

however, looking at the damage...clipped was used too liberally. you hit atleast 1/2 of the deer with atleast 1/2 of your car.

maybe now you'll be a little more aware of 3 things:
1. speed limits on empty roads are there for a good reason
2. speeding at night in a deer area is a bad idea

3. speeding at night is a bad idea, and i'm going to brake down the why reason behind this.

lets say you're moving at 55mph which is 80 feet per second. your low beams project ahead about 50-60 feet visibility...but you're covering 50 feet in under one second now. so you see something 60 feet ahead, you have less than one second to react and hit the brake pedal. maybe if you drive with your left foot hovering over the brake pedal all the time it would work out? lets say you have your high beams on, and now you can see 100-120ft down the road with clear visibility, you now have about 1.3 seconds to react and hit the brake pedal, whats the 60-0 stopping distance of a 3G Eclipse? 135 ft. even going 5 over the speed limit, with your high beams on at night and seeing the deer 120ft out and reacting in under one second, you'll probably hit that deer unless you have upgraded brakes, matching tires, or can swerve at the right moment to miss it and not run off the road. granted by the time you're on the deer you're probably only going about 20-30mph so swerving isnt going to be such a problem, however deer are unpredictable and theres often more than one.

yea... i am so thankfull no one got hurt. I really really am. And once again i do admit i waqs speeding more than i needed to be, about 75-85, and this is basiclly what i get for it, but raz, i really dont appreciate your little speed racer remark. I do realize i was stupid for this, but i did handle the situation alot better than others would. I kept the car on the road and my passenger safe. Thats what i find important.

Oh and bitter, i did learn i speed to much. This is all a wake-up call. I need to keep it safer alot more. I just wish i coulda learned all this a better way.... anyways. I also wasnt using my high beams because it has been so windy here, and the dirt in the air made it harder to see with brights.

but yea... im going to call allstate on monday morning. Do yall know if they support aftermarket by chance to? I have all my stockers for this kinda reason.

haha...:lmfao:

that will buff right out.. - someone has to say it.

in a serious note, glad to hear you're OK boss!

anyhow, man, you really are determined to keep your car. i won't even bother trying to convince you not to keep it. but i have to say, everything that most of these guys said, is the best option... please look up the bad side of having a Junk/Rebuilt title before buying it back.

you know, Eclipse GSX's are nice :ndance:!

When I drive with my friends, I have no problem telling them to slow down if they are going too fast. Especially in the snow, when it's quite obvious that they will not be able to stop in time if something were to happen. Now that's just me, but like Hijacker said, some people are afraid to speak up when their friends are being unsafe.

I don't think I'm an expert driver, nor do I think I'm invincible. I'm out to prove people wrong, mainly the insurance companies, by not being a big risk on the roads. Everyone is a risk when they get behind the wheel in my opinion, but you can take steps to minimize the risk.

I'm sorry to see another car ruined by a deer.

thanks for the concern everyone. I will get you pictures uo today or tomorrow. Maybe yall can figure out whats all damaged. But fyi, i may end up just fixing everything myself, so when you see the pictures and see whats damaged, keep your eyes out for that part.

but to look on the brighter side, maybe i can actually make money out of all this and go with my ss lips and two tone look :)

Hood, Headlight, Fender, bumper Radiator, Radiator support and top brackets, washer bottle, Powersteering reservoir, cant see very well but it looks like some of those AC lines are also damaged. I would assume that the car will be a total loss if you file a claim.
