Why not just buy a catback system designed for our cars? :dunno:

Magnaflow, Invidia, Greddy are good choices to look into.

 

Don't have that kind of money lol full time job and full time student.

Straight pipes are going to be loud, harsh, and sound (in my opinion) very nasty.

 

The videos I have watched have sounded pretty good to me. Nice and deep in my opinion

You're referring to my video I put on YouTube a few years ago. The exhaust was simply just cutting off the stock muffler and using a piece of pipe with a tip on it. Keeping the Stock Cat's is going to keep the sound nice and mellow. Costs maybe $30.

 

Straight pipes will always be loud annoying and nasty. look in to a resonator so you dont get a headache while highway cruising and so it wont piss off everyone else on the road with you.

 

V6 cars have a resonator before the muffler. They are not "loud annoying and nasty" when the muffler is removed.

 

I think I'm going to take the muffler off then put a Y-pipe and make dual exits in the rear. Of course got to cut and match the already exit hole for the driver side over to the passenger side. Then in the future I want to put dual borla boomers with a borla cat? any thoughts of this?

 

Everybody has their own opinion, but I think this sounds great. Not to mention, it's still quieter than any aftermarket cat-back.

:agreed: I fuckin' hate muffler deletes. The 3g is the one and only exception.

Delete the muffler and put a nice stainless steel pipe in it's place and cut the big resonator and one of the small ones, replace with normal straight pipe.

Sounds beautiful.. Fast and furious if you ask me.

after meeting up with some kids at my campus who have done the same thing it is not that loud at all. It is deep and mellow. of course its loud when you step on it to show some ricer civic whats up. But what after market exhaust isn't loud when you floor it?? O and by the way my fiancés father loves the idea so suck it

 

If you don't have at least some performance mods and you straight pipe your car dosent that just make you a ricer eclipse owner?

I have a cold air intake on it now. Going to pull a 74 manifold and do that swap next week, and for Christmas going to get 2 borla mufflers to put on my dual exhaust.... No I am not a ricer! Just can't spend money like crazy all at once while I am a full time student and living with my fiancé.

 

OK so I have been looking at exhaust systems as well since you all decide to give me shit lol anyway I was looking at the Ebay catback exhaust but will I be able to hook it up to my GTS? I been searching but never found a direct answer all the ones I found were on a GT.

 

gts/gt...same thing, different engine internals and manifold/transmission ratios... everything else is the same

That's the "small resonator" version. It will rasp pretty badly. The ideal would be the one with the larger resonator. It should be around somewhere on ebay. Can't seem to find it at the moment.

Sure there is. Everything on that link is worth every penny. Especially when it includes warranty, and quality metal parts. Not some cheap Chinese metal.

That's the crappy small resonator system. Those ones suck. The good system has a 5" wide barrel resonator in it which is why it sounds great.

 

ok well what about this one lol sorry everyone I just want to get a great exhaust for my car for a decent price. if this is not a good one. can someone post one that is good off of ebay for around $150.00. give or take $50.

Notice the huge resonator. I've put these on a number of cars, only thing I would say is be prepared to lengthen or shorten it. The same system fit a GT cali spec but not GTS so I'm not sure where the variance came from but be prepared.

If you're worried though an easy way is to cut the main cat out and cut a length out of the front piece of the old catback. Use the flange from the old catback to bolt to the new catback and clamp the other end to the back of the Y pipe in place of the main cat. Gives you the adjustment you need. It's about as cheap and nig/rigged as it gets but for those in search of cheap sound it works and still sounds better than any $500+ aftermarket bullshit catback.
