Well good for you... I'd greatly appreciate knowing which drivetrain it is but I'm off to spend a day at the yard on tuesday so I'll look around. If its so easy, why don't you do it? Hell you could even sell AWD eclipses and make some good money.

because, honestly the final cost...there would be no buyers. you could go buy an evo for the same price he'd need to charge to make it worth his while.

Well how much stuff do you need? I can pick up an entire drivetrain for 400$ at the local yard. With the ability to weld and a custom bellhousing you're set.
then do it, whats stopping you?

exactly, greg can make more money working on other projects than he could building an awd eclipse v6 to sell to a market that wouldnt pay what it cost to build.

Nothings stopping me. I just want to finish my engine build first. And then of course do the research because no one will give answers.
YOU are stopping you. You don't have a fucking clue as to what you are doing. There is no AWD V6 because the only car that will probably be AWD V6 is my own because no one else is going to pay what it costs to do the conversion. I'm not in a rush because shit... My cars never run. I spend all my time working on other peoples things as doing work for them actually pays my bills. Working on my own cars just eats up ALOT of my money.

You should never expect people to GIVE you answers. GO DO THE LEG WORK AND THE RESEARCH AND LEARN IT YOUR FUCKING SELF DAMNIT. Such a lazy generation. If you can't google it, you are fucked.

You won't find anything that will work in a junkyard near you.

Just for the sake of knowledge, does anyone know any good resources that outlines how the evo AWD works? I have looked at the EVO 8 FSM, and I kind of understand how the front and center diffs work, but I couldn't find any good info on the VCU. I also noticed that it looks like the front and rear diffs on an evo 8 have different ratios, which has me a little confused.

I fully understand how a standard open differential works as well as torsen type diffs like the Quaife, but I have never really looked into mitsu AWD. If I could tear one appart I'm sure I could answer any questions I may have, but I'm not going to do that.

EVO AWD works the same as VR4 AWD or DSM AWD. It's all the same shit. The only difference would be that the newer the platform, the more electronics there are.

The main reason for my last post was that I am having difficulty understanding how everything works properly with the front and rear final drive ratios being different? Can anyone point me in the right direction for that? Also, I see that there are options available to the evo guys to change their final drive ratio, but I do not see any mention of changing the rear final drive at the same time.

Maybe they want to do it themselves, so they got the answers themselves. Maybe you should do the same. Hell if I figured it out I wouldn't tell a soul until I did it. Even then.... I don't think I would.

Think about it. If he just gave away all his answers why would you goto him for anything? Maybe you should finish your build first and have a running car before you even think about doing such a thing.

Matt: Power bias. Most of the power is transferred to the front wheels of an EVO.

I understand torque bias between front and rear, but wouldn't the tires between the front and rear try to turn at different speeds? i.e. put the car on jack stands and the front tires turn at 20mph and the rears turn at 30mph.

So a custom bellhousing is needed to mate the transfer case to 5-spd the and the custom front subframe is needed to accommodate for the transfer case.
So after that it would be sourcing the rest of the driveline to be put together for the rear.

Pretty much.

Alright so I made my first mistake being a new member, I started a thread paddleshift and trannys regarding a concept for a show car for an 02 gt i just bought, finesse49ers was cool enough not to give me shit and directed me here for awd talk. So i was kickin around the idea of swapping either the evo/outlander (and/or cuz i know their not the same) drive train and tranny to make a paddleshift v6 awd. I know that there will be frame/subframe issues possibly on top of ecu and other electrical components to consider but is it possible of mating the evo/outlander system to the 6g72 or 75 is this feasible. I know have read the talk about a possible v6 awd with import parts but would it be feasible with the updated drive trains. An Idea that I am researching and just trying to get basic input. I've read some of these post, and lord knows ya'll don't like people questions LOL

You apparently haven't read any of the posts in this thread.

I have, but nobody has brought up the point of using a modern car as a doner or the use of sst tranny which im more interested in using for the purpose of the build vs the one attached to the outlander using its version of a cvt tranny. Second, the post for the conver to an awd includes a manual vs the sports shift. The general post in here is the issue mating a manual tranny to the 72 or 75 motor or doing motor switches in general. I have read the post in here. Dodge caravans have even been brought up in the conversation along with oversees vr4's, monetero and everything else older than 05 which isn't my question regards to my proposed build.

Now if it is feasible that the sst tranny would link up then i wouldnt have an issue doing fram/sub frame work. My question is it a possibility building a v6 gt awd paddle shift using evo/outlander? and that hasn't been discussed for the purpose of my build

has anybody called or spoken with anybody from getrag trannys as they might have some answers for you guys since they are the ones that did the trannys in the 3kgtvr4, evo and something else can't remember off the top of my head, but its just a thought. Even though Blackout will tell me that everybody has already thought about callin or has called Getrag or it has already been mentioned
