very good modification
Someone had said the Ripps did not fit because of the starter also. I would measure the headers clearance on a a 72. The 74 is about 18mm taller deck but that only translates to about 16mm movement directly up. So if you have 16mm+ clearance between your headers and the starter or oil pan then I would say you are ok.
My cars sounds deeper now than it did with the 72. My co-workers noticed right off with out me saying anything to them how much fuller and deeper it sounded. I have a Greddy SP2 BTW
I think I heard you can use the 3.5 stock manis and they bolt up to the 3.0 downpipe just fine, but dont quote me on it.Can you use the stock Fed Spec mainifolds?
Rep'd :agreed:here's my tutorial for swapping the 6g74 with an auto tranny:

sigh.... :facepalm:Anyone know a source for the 6g74 GDI? It was used in the japanese diamante and montero during the mid 90's so I can't imagine it would cost a whole lot outside shipping (in relation to some of the other engines anyway).
I'm liking your work. :yesway::yesway:so most of you know im getting my shit done. should have it all back soon. im going to install the ported and polished 74 heads first, see how it goes and then possibly end up with some ported 75 heads, building the headers, installing the 75 crank and decking the pistons to a 0cc flattop. again this should make for a 14:1 CR motor with the 74 heads on because of the small combustion chambers. ill be running a water/meth injection setup and possibly going E85 with some STi pink injectors for street duty. track duty injectors will depend on how my duty cycles look at peak torque and how they look at the top of the rpm band. ill also be moving up my rev limit to 8k to take advantage of the intake flow characteristics and the heads.
here are some pics of the work thusfar
