So...I was getting tired of seeing my car's stock third brake light turning dull on me after every wash. I know it's nothing 'major,' but I thought I'd share my most recent project. The moment I opened the box, I spent a whopping 20 minutes to finish it.

DONE! :)

Now I just have to order a red LED for it.

....looking....;)

Thank you. :)

Good job. I've done several of those for members.. I'm sure you remember. They were paying $80 for the service. Only took an hour. :)
Oh yes, I remember.

One of the reasons why I decided to do this is because I remembered one very specific photo when you first did one for your car. It was a close up of the third brake light and it had a nice little red bulb in it as well. :) Unfortunately, I couldn't find it anymore. :(

I'd like to see it lit up :)

And be sure to get the wide angle LED's, instead of like the 35 degree ones.
Thanks man. I was thinking of getting a LED bulb similar to this...

I'm trying to avoid having my third brake light look like a small Christmas light when it lights up. So perhaps having some LEDs on the sides would help reduce that possibility? I'm no LED expert here....

wow, i didn't think it would be so easy to open them up! Waiting for pics of install for sure.
Yeah, me too. That's the reason why I put off buying the LED because I thought it would be more difficult than what it really was. I was betting that I would break the lens or something and didn't want to have two red (they come in pairs) LEDs sitting at the house.....

Looks good. Did you cut out the piece in the middle where it's still chrome?

The LEDs finally came in today. And I got the light installed! :)

Here's a before/after shot:

Looks like a decent amount of light output from that LED bulb. :yesway:

Let me know what you guys think! :)

Thanks, man. I spent a pretty 'penny' on those LEDs to just make sure they had proper light output.

Much much better - matches the taillights. Climson, you are one of the very few on the site whom I know will selectively choose the rights things to do to your car each and every time with the ability to actually take a proper photograph as a follow up. :)

You have damn good taste in mods. As a suggestion, you should consider replacing the red Mitsu badges with the chrome OEM ones and remove the GT badge on the back corner. That would square up and center the back of the vehicle perfectly and the chrome Mitsu logo would pick up on the center section of the 3rd brake light and lightly accent the rest of the rear of the car. Your only other option would be refinishing your current ones to a satin black. :)
:blush2: Thanks HIJACKER for the kind words. It's my pleasure to provide such pictures for everyone to view.

And yeah, I actually do have the one piece chrome Mitsu emblems. I just layed some red tape over the diamonds in replacement of the black diamonds I had one before.

I'm still undecided about the red emblems....but right now, black emblems would look much better than the red. :yesway: But when it comes time to switch them out, all I have to do is just peel them off. :)
