Thanks for reading Nitro.

Yeah the guy I bought it from did not mention any service done other than oil changes and engine treatment. :ninja2:

I'll pop the timing belt cover off this weekend and see how the belt is...if it's dry/cracked i'll get her and her other lady parts replaced top priority. Maybe he did it just forgot to tell me? ... fingers crossed.

So I was bored at the house, looking at car mods, listening to music, when I started searched for car modding software. Came across a website that had an 03 model you could virtually mod to your liking. Kinda helped me get a visual on the paint job options I've had in my head. What do you guys think, A or B?

Option A: Glossy Black w/ Yellow Hood

Options B: Glossy Yellow w/ Black Hood

They didn't have a soft top model available :rant2: but you kinda get the idea. Black depo headlights, Black TYC or LED tails, Black Konigs...ahhh one day!

Thanks for the links quik. I like the Falcon wing Chad has (and those headlights btw, props where props are due) but wanted a wing with some height similar to yours.

That's why I went with the park bench look I guess, lol.

#19 ·
Personally my 2 favorites would be the ww v-line or the falcon. You cant go wrong with the stock wing either. Plus the nice thing about these wings is that they mount to the oem holes on the hatch (meaning no drilling new holes for an uglier wing and having to patch the stock holes). I think many other members would agree, that is just my :twocent:

Since you are asking for opinions.....I vote neither the option. Factory black is a really nice color on its own. The yellow you did on the inside looks VERY ricey. It was what I was talking about when another member was doing their car. You get the "if it pops out or unscrews paint it" and it just looks tacky.

Kalapana black would be great if it wasn't faded/cracked in some areas after 14 years (look closely beneath front lip) :( Besides I think a nice gloss look wouldn't do any harm...I'm no auto body specialist but when I said glossy black I simply meant 'shiny new not a scratch or crack in it black'. Basically to get rid of any blemishes/cosmetic damage.

In regards to the ricer interior, thanks :). I've gotten the :yesway: from every 3G owner I've seen in my area so far, so it must look decent in person. You referring to how the end result looks or the fact that these plastic pieces were even painted at all?

Would I take my shit to a car show as is and expect a round of applause? Nahhh...not yet. ;) .

Was also thinking about plastidipping my stock wheels black until I'm ready for a new set of rims, since I'll be wanting new brakes/tires soon.

#25 ·
Looks very cleaned up! I personally like the wheels. It matches the lights on the front end.

Plasti-dip is 50/50.

Curious , I never thought it would be an issue to tint the rear window. Wouldn't it apply the same way? Yes it might be tricky to cut the tint on the plastic but shouldn't be any different than a glass window right?

#26 ·
Thanks man.

In regards to the tint, you know I thought the same thing? But my buddy said it wouldn't stick because it's not like plexiglass, the plastic pane on mine is just plastic. So he didn't even try it.

#28 ·
How crazy would it be to have 5% on the windows , then ride with top down windows up?
;)
You'd be surprised, lol.

Where I live older folk do it all the time :p

I personally did it because my leather interior gets hot during these summer months. Temps are getting into the 110 range and my ass/arms don't like it.

Took her out for a wash today, my daughter wanted to help so I put her to work. :yesway:

Also you may notice I repainted the emblems flat black. My girl wants me to do black on black. I told her she sounds like a smart woman. The emblems came out clean, as did the fuel door.

I'll be doing the same to some of the yellow pieces in the interior.

Have a great work week ya'll.

I have 5% all the way around on my 3G. The only bad part is driving at night with the windows upBut its is great overall, keeps out the heat here in NM.
Man I wish I could skate by with 5% wrapped around. But I'd be getting fix it tickets left and right. :rant2:

Looking good! I didn't quite research the whole gas door thing. I for sure have a plastic one. However since everything is red and the wheels headlight and tailights are black, the grey gas door doesn't match.
Didn't know if getting a metal door would look any better but painting it black is on my to-do list.
Thanks man. I agree the flat black looks a lot better considering I'll be ditching the chrome rims soon. Word of advice. Don't sit there with your allen wrench trying to remove the fuel door like a damn retard like I did :bash: 3 screws are behind the fuel door under the gas cap.

I am not here to squash anyone's dreams, I also don't believe in candy coating things if someone is asking for an honest opinion. Thanks for being mature enough to know I wasn't bashing you.

When and if you need parts shoot me a message.

#39 ·
Wish I had a name for it but unfortunately the software used had general names for all of the rear spoilers (ie spoiler 1, spoiler 2, etc).

I think the wheels were the only thing that had name brands tied to them. :dunno:

I'm sure someone with more experience in this area can give you a name of a comparable model though.

If I come across it I'll let you know!

Do you remember the site? Link?

@Everbody else I always dreamed of having a black car. But it is true it only looks it's best for a short while. Working on a farm doesn't help me at all though  fucking gravel/dirt roads and birds -_- I pretty much detail it every day.

EDIT: Found it! http://www.3dtuning.com/en/Tuning/Tuning/233?Mode=1 but it's just called custom 12 with no link to the spoiler -_- I would love to own that.

#44 ·
In a good way. It looks beastly.
Haha ok thanks for clarifying. I agree, the black looks pretty tough and has a more classic and grown up look compared to the yellow.

Looks great in black, of course. But remember, black is a high maintenance color. Only looks good for the first 5 minutes after washing (and detailing) it. And then sets the layer of dust....
This is true! Dealing with a black vehicle can be tiresome to say the least. :( But honestly I don't mind taking her to the local wash, just gives me an excuse to get out the house and drive her :yesway:

I owned a black 3G GT for about 6 years, and then said never a black car ever again. :twitch: It was succeeded by a silver '97 C280, and my current silver '06 Evo9MR.

#47 ·
Guess I got about 5.5 years to go then before I say :fawk2: it. Lol.

I've owned nothing but black/white vehicles...maybe that's the reason why I dreamed up that yellow version of my car? :dunno:

So, I brought my door panels and mitsu emblems back to black recently. (Thanks again Menace ;) ) I'll try to post pictures of the outcome this weekend if I can get around to replacing my valve cover gasket.

Meanwhile, guess what came in the mail today?

Soooo my clear housing conversion is almost complete! :ndance:

All I need to do is pick up some 1156 bulbs (2 amber for turn) and a 921 bulb (red for 3rd brake light) before I do the install and I'm good to go. (This is my DD and again, PD in my city love to hit their quota every month so I'm trying to keep it as street legal as possible)

Once I put these in I'll have clear housings all around, minus the stock tails. After reviewing the official lights thread I'm torn between chrome and black. What do you all think would go best?

Chrome LED tails
Black LED tails

I wish I could find some of those custom skyline tails that soundman had, I'd opt for those in a heartbeat

But in the meantime I'm settling for ebay. Hit me with ideas (or examples of similar setups would be nice?) lol.
