Not exactly sure how it will show up in the pictures, but we painted the car white with blue pearl. Basically it (and the wheels) shine blue. On a sunny day the whole side of the car will flip. It is my personal vehicle, we painted it at work, and that would be the reason for the advertisements and logos. And yes, they are vinyls applied ON TOP of the clear so they can be removed. :)

The large decal on the hood is a bit too much IMO. I realize its purpose but I think maybe smaller decals relocated somewhere else on the car would help really show off the car/paint.

Some clear corners and other lights would help it out alot. Maybe a lip to help compliment the wing. Whats with the sub in the back seat?
Otherwise it looks really clean. nice job :yesway:

Any other personal plans for it?

i would change the rims...
decals are bad (this is my personal opinion)
everything else is good and pretty... + subwoofer needs a better place...

As far as the sub, there's no other place to put it. I'm probably going to sell it and down size to a pair of twelves or preferably high quality tens. I'd have many more placement options. I've had the 15" L7 for forever so I just plopped it in the back seat for the time being. :) I also have no say what so ever in the decals. The deal was I can get the whole car repainted white (used to be black) with blue pearl free of charge but the boss gets to slap decals on it as he saw fit. I got a $3000 paint job for free, he gets advertisement. Plus it had Mitsu black paint cancer so it was in dire need of a repaint.

As far as clear corners, I haven't really thought about it. What about smoking them? Or clear then smoke?

Not a fan of body kits at all, but would actually like a front lip kit. Nothing huge, just a little flip.

Future Plans: Adjustable coilovers
Brake, suspension, clutch upgrades
HID conversion

Apart from that there are two very large projects in the making. I started gathering parts last year and probably have another year or so before they begin to become a reality. Those two projects are

turbo

AWD

I've seen/heard of a few AWD 3g. There are many turbo 3g 4 cylinders. There are also a decent amount of turbo v6's. BUT, Unless I'm mistaken, I have yet to see a turbo v6 AWD (spyder for that matter). That is the current project.

Black out - That's why it's taken a year so far and will probably be another one before it sees any light. Study, study, study. I'll figure it out. :)

Disclaimer* Maaco is a franchise. All Maaco's are privately owned and operated. The owners can conduct business however their little hearts desire. If they want to produce shit that's their call, not that of Maaco's. I can list of three Maaco's in Milwaukee I wouldn't even consider taking a bicycle frame to to get painted. Then you have shops like our which do a few candy and pearl jobs a month and only produce quality work who get stuck dealing with customer ignorance. And for those of you who think, "Oh cool, they do candy and pearl. Maaco paint jobs only cost like $400, so I can get a candy paint job for $400!" Wrong. Pearl starts around the $2500-$3000 range and Candy starts around the $3500-$4000 range. Chameleon, chromalusion, etc. start higher than that.

Ok. Enough said about that.

A rip off paint job will cost $6000. Unless your getting some kind of fantastic custom air brushing or something, there is no reason to spend that kind of money on a simple base clear. Go to you nearest paint shop and ask what a gallon of paint costs for what ever car you have. That's about what it takes to paint it. Now get a gallon of Nason 2k primer, and a couple quarts of clear. Add in the cost for a roll of masking paper and painters tape. That's how much the average Joe would pay for his supplies. You're looking at a couple hundred buck. Now subtract the 75% we get as a discount that the average Joe doesn't get. That's what we pay. Long story short we spend $100 in supplies. The other 3 or 4 hundred pays salary, overhead and profit. If you spend $400 just to get one panel you got ripped off BAD. Doing a single panel in a tri-stage process runs for $150. Poor kid.

lmao prep work is labor, proper prep work is extensive labor and extensive labor is expensive, you sound like you simply just spray over old paint, which will eventually just flake off. Bottom line is the car is poorly modded, the sub woofer in the back seat looks terrible, the 4x4 stance is hideous, there is badges in the interior? Chrome headlights with orange turns looks awful, and unless you have some limitless cash supply and some SERIOUS knowledge, an awd v6 platform is not within your reach

Yeah I saw those after I had taken all the pictures and had started driving home. Had to pull over and get them out of there. lol I wish you could see it in person. Not only is it very shiny and glossy, it has since been wet sanded and buffed so it looks like glass, and you can't really get the pearl effect in the pictures. :(

#26 ·
I really wish I could see the pearl in these pictures I'd like to see it. I have blue pearl over a black base myself.

Anywho, looks like you got a drop in plan so that's good. I'd suggest a WW front lip, black TYCs, smoked front and rear corners, black projectors.

And, unless you are rolling in a tremendous amount of money, and you got people that truly know what they are doing you more than likely won't achieve an AWD V6.

Oh and the badges on the interior are ugly lol.

I see we have the same car and same goal of an AWD conversion. I like the paint job and your wheels. The spoiler, stickers, interior badgingand big ass box,:noplease:. Get all your rear lights tinted, smoked front corners and a drop and it'll look much better.

dont hid stock headlights.. if i were you id stick with the white theme get clear corners and possibly painting the inside white idk how it would look cuase idk anyone that has done it but clear would look fine. i know black looks great when its done. and get some white projectors, which they do make. my opinion.

#31 ·
If I upgrade to HID I definitely think I will also change the headlights.

I COMPLETELY agree with everyone about the clear corners. They're next on my list of things to buy. Untill then the stock ones it is :)

As far as the sub in my trunk, the box doesn't fit so I'd have to custom make one. The problem is that to have a correctly tuned box for a 15" Solobaric L7 (wired down from 4ohm to 2ohm) It would take up just about all of the trunk due to the weird shape it would have to take. That's not a problem but relocating the electronics is. Currently the trunk is taken up but a very large mono bloc Rockford Fosgate amp, and another almost as large 4 channel Infinity amp. Next to those is a 2.4 farad Power Acoustik capacitor and custom mounting stand. Even if I built an amp rack it' wouldn't all fit.

#32 ·
I take that back. It could all fit, but the box wouldn't be tuned correctly, therefor sacrificing quality, etc. etc. I was considering removing the rear seat, getting a speed cover, and painting it to match. The sub or subs could then hide underneath it. What do you guys think? Also what is your input on light/sound bars?

#33 ·
ok, now you have confused me...

you say you do correct prep, but charger more if the paint is peeling? wouldn't that mean LESS prep? to get the old stuff off? or do you just rough up the old paint, and put a new layer on top?

hey you are a maaco rep car, so we gotta ask you about maaco paint.

and i am not sure why not many said this, but you paint is so bright it makes your stock tails look like ass. time to get the lights matching the paint. you know clear corners are like 20 bucks.
