Okay, well my 0'1 GT I think still has enough miles left on it to do some modding
(94,8XX). I plan on kinda building it over the summer but my budget isn't too high and its pretty expensive to mod a v6 from what I hear. I want to spend around 1000 dollars. I'm doing the simple I/H/E. I'd like to take my car to the local midnight madness at some tracks around my area. I believe the 0'1 GT is around 6.8 sec 0-60 time with a good driver and I'll admit I'm no Dom Torreto or Brian O'Conner:lmfao:. I hope with these mods i can run somewhere in the 5's. Here we go...1st Mods: Injen CAI and Ingalls Torque Damper( hopefully will give me better launch) CAI- $220 Damper - $140 total: $360 est.
So that leaves me with around 500-600 for an exhaust/ headers total. :rant2: Recommendations for an Exhaust/ Headers setup with my price range? Any eBay ones that are decent?:p They are super cheap there but are prolly POS's. Also am I going to need a stage 2 clutch or will stock be fine? When all said and done I'd like to have around 230-240 Hp and my 0-60 time to be somewhere in the 5's. Do you think this can be done with these mods? Thanks for the help guys:)

Dream killer lol, so you are saying that the ONLY way to make this car a second quicker is to spend 3k on a supercharger or tubo kit? It's kinda funny how these are the most simple mods on every other car that isn't n/a but yet it won't help the 3g ?

Because the 4G64 and 6G72 are OLD tech, design from the 70's and technology from the 80's. Swap in a bigger V6 or one with Mivec and try that.

Those cheap ones are made in mass production for multiple platforms, and don't usually fit well. Alot of them are known to rub against the battery terminals, creating a hole, which allow dirt and water into the engine.

I was young and dumb and purchased one in high school. Ended up creating a hole as stated above, and corroded from the inside out sending metal flakes into my engine.

So yes, it is important in my eyes unless you want trash to go into your throttle body.

 Chad stop it.

Seriously though you may want to rethink your goal. Instead of worrying about shaving 1 second off your 0-60 time you may want to think about shaving time off your 1/4 mile run, that's if you plan on tracking the car. Honestly I've never heard of anyone wanting to mod their car to shave their 0-60 time, maybe it's just me.

Well thanks anyway guys. And Finesse please don't hurt me, remember I'm a noob -.- Well if you can think of any performance mods in my budget lemme know. Maybe I should have bought a Honda if I wanted to make it as fast for cheap......NOT I hate Civics =)

what he said. These cars love handling mods.

Do a 75 swap, the 74 is fun, but kind of over rated. The 75 with bolt ons will equal the power of a turbo stock motor and be much more reliable. That's why everyone wants to do it now. I mean going from 180 whp to 280 is a nice jump.

Welcome. "74" and "75" are referring to 2 V6 engines that can be swapped into a 3G. The "74" is the 6G74 3.5L engine commonly found in 1997-2004 Diamante's. The "75" is a 6G75 3.8L engine commonly found in a 4G plus other late model Mitsu's.

You want cheap mods that make you happy?

Motor: build your own CAI (you will get the same power as name brand for 1/5 the money)
6g74 tb/manifold swap
Headers (you can find GOOD sets used for cheap)
Custom exhaust (you could make one out of stainless steel for less then name brand shit)
Plugs/wires
Do your maintenance. Change the cap and rotor, water pump, belts, everything to get it back to a healthy motor.
TUNE IT

Suspension
Energy Suspension bushings set (do the entire car and you will be VERY happy)
Moog endlinks front and back
Strut tower and lower tie bars

Driveability and Fun Driving
Megan short shifter w/prothane stabilizer bushings (these are awesome)
Speed source solid brass shifter cable bushings (AWESOME upgrade)
Stainless clutch line
Lightweight flywheel with a little more aggressive clutch

There's plenty more little things you can do that make a difference. The upgrades are endless, just takes some creativity and the perseverance to do them yourself. If you work on your own car you can make it whatever you want for a fraction of the cash.
